00:06DRI officers conducted sustained surveillance in the area, acting on specific intelligence regarding a syndicate involved in the illicit manufacturing of mephedron,
00:15a psychotropic substance listed under the NDPS Act 1985.
00:19In the early hours of 8 April 2025, a search operation was carried out at Rohina village in Latur.
00:24The search led to the seizure of 11.36 kg of mephedron along with large quantities of raw materials and full-scale laboratory equipment used for manufacturing the substance.
00:35The total value of the seized narcotics was estimated at Rs 12 crore in the international market.
00:41The main accused, Pramod Sanjay, hailed from Rohina village in Latur and had set up the factory on his farmland by constructing a shed.
00:48Five individuals, including the police constable, directly involved in the manufacturing of mephedron at the clandestine facility were apprehended.
00:57In October 2024, DRI busted a factory which was engaged in illegal manufacture of mephedron located in the industrial area of Meghennagar, Madhya Pradesh.
01:06The operation resulted in the seizure of 112 kg mephedron worth Rs 168 crore and other raw materials and equipment.
01:15In April 2024, the Gujarat ATS and NCB jointly busted three mephedron labs in Gujarat and Rajasthan, arrested 13 people and also seized mephedron with a street value of Rs 230 crore.
01:29Value of seized narcotics in 2024 was more than 55% as compared to Rs 16,100 crore seized in 2023.
01:38In 2024, the seized drugs included more harmful and addictive synthetic drugs, cocaine and pharmaceutical drugs used as psychotropic substances which are also of much higher value.
