00:00Bersatu Deputy Information Chief Datuk Seri Ali Mohamad has been remanded for alleged bribery
00:05relating to a land reclamation project amounting to 44 million ringgit.
00:11Ali, popularly known as Chegu Ali, was arrested at 4.55 p.m. on Monday
00:16when he turned up at the Malacca MACC headquarters.
00:20The anti-graft agency applied for a six-day remand order on Tuesday
00:24to assist investigations under Section 16, Subsection AB of the MACC Act 2009
00:31for soliciting and accepting bribes.
00:35The MACC also recorded statements from Ali's immediate family members
00:40and released them on Monday night.
00:43The former Tanga Batu UMNO Chief and State Liaison Committee Deputy Chairman
00:48had his party membership revoked after he decided to join Bersatu in May
00:54last year.
00:55He also served as the Deputy President of the Diwan Nagara
00:59from December 2020 to May 2023.
