00:00:00Alright, alright, alright. How's everyone doing? Hope you're all doing well. I am doing well, thanks for asking.
00:00:08So, I'm getting some MLB The Show 25. Let's go ahead and get started.
00:00:16So, for those of you that watch baseball, which MLB, which record, which record that's considered unbreakable do you think will be, uh,
00:00:28Broken First. For me, personally, I can see either Pete Rose's career hits record or, uh, Barry Bonds' career home runs record.
00:00:42And, someone's, I know that, uh, Albert Pujols was about roughly 50 to 60 home runs away from
00:00:56actually, uh, setting the career record. If he had played a couple more years, you know, as a designated hitter, I could easily see him.
00:01:09Um, you know, as an exclusive, everyday, uh, designated hitter, I could see him breaking the record.
00:01:20Um.
00:01:25Mike Trout, I can no longer see break the record just because he hasn't been healthy. He, uh,
00:01:34Uh, if he had actually stayed healthy, you know, I could see him breaking the record, but
00:01:41You know, for, for career home runs, because, like, I know that's Barry Bonds' record right now.
00:01:50So, David Ortiz, had he played for a few more years, I could see breaking the record.
00:01:59But it's still hard to get, hit a home run, but if anyone could do it, it'd be, like,
00:02:03Players like Mike Trout, uh, players like Albert Pujols and David Ortiz.
00:02:12I know, uh, Albert Pujols was, I think, less than 50 or 60 away from
00:02:19The, uh, all-time most. He, I think, finished fourth, third or fourth all-time
00:02:27Um, for career home runs, so it's, yeah.
00:02:32Hey, Erica Collins, how you doing?
00:02:34I'm doing well, how are you?
00:02:39Thanks for stopping by.
00:02:44Well, that, uh, for
00:02:46Major League Baseball's career hits,
00:02:49Ichiro could've, if he had actually made his debut a bit earlier.
00:02:52But, I know if you combine his, uh, Japanese total and his, uh,
00:03:05American total, it would, he has more than Pete Rose, but, he,
00:03:10Yeah, no problem, Erica. Glad to hear.
00:03:18Or, Ichiro, but I know his, uh, Japanese
00:03:20Hits don't count, so
00:03:27Get a knuckleball up in the zone, actually.
00:03:38There we go, we got a strikeout.
00:03:42Um, Nolan Ryan's career strikeout record won't be broken anytime soon.
00:03:47Same with Cy Young's career innings pitched.
00:03:52Uh, I usually play sports games, so
00:03:54Games like MLB The Show
00:03:55Uh, 25, uh,
00:03:59Madden, uh,
00:04:02NHL,
00:04:06MLB 2K,
00:04:09Uh, WWE 2K,
00:04:10And, uh,
00:04:11And, NBA 2K as well.
00:04:13In the NCAA football series and NCAA basketball.
00:04:17I also do racing games, so I'll do, uh,
00:04:19NASCAR.
00:04:21I'll do, uh,
00:04:22F1,
00:04:23MotoGP,
00:04:24Forza Motorsport.
00:04:27Uh, since I'm playing on the
00:04:28Xbox consoles.
00:04:32And, uh,
00:04:33If I'm not talking, I usually play a
00:04:35Story Mode game.
00:04:37As well. Like, right now, I've been,
00:04:38Recently, I've been playing South of Midnight.
00:04:40As well.
00:04:43What about you, Erica?
00:04:45What games do you play?
00:04:48In terms of innings pitched,
00:04:51I'm third, actually,
00:04:53This season.
00:04:58Yeah, I do like college hoops,
00:05:00NBA 2K,
00:05:01And,
00:05:02NC basketball and NC football as well.
00:05:04And, Call of Duty as well.
00:05:08That's like the one non,
00:05:10Sports game that I play a lot of.
00:05:14On my,
00:05:16It's tough.
00:05:19It, I,
00:05:20Don't think I have a favorite game,
00:05:22Because it usually depends on my mood.
00:05:25Uh,
00:05:26But it's usually like, uh,
00:05:28I usually enjoy F1,
00:05:31Moto,
00:05:31It's a toss-up between F1,
00:05:34MotoGP,
00:05:35Uh,
00:05:36Madden,
00:05:36And M will be the show.
00:05:37And NBA 2K.
00:05:50What about you?
00:05:51Oh, I also play FIFA and the EA Sports FC games a lot as well.
00:05:58I like,
00:05:58I like the FIFA games and the EA Sports FC.
00:06:05I'm going to have to catch her catch that.
00:06:07That's his job.
00:06:12Oh,
00:06:21Dang it,
00:06:26We gave up a hit.
00:06:27We're going to,
00:06:27That's probably,
00:06:28I think that's our first hit of the,
00:06:30Yeah,
00:06:30That's our,
00:06:31The first hit we've allowed this game.
00:06:34Actually,
00:06:35So we lose the no hitter.
00:06:38But,
00:06:39You know,
00:06:39Mike Trout's,
00:06:40One of the best,
00:06:43At getting hits.
00:06:47Today,
00:06:48At least.
00:06:51Definitely the,
00:06:53One of the best,
00:06:53If not the best,
00:06:54Home run hitter.
00:06:57Nice.
00:06:58I,
00:06:58I like Halo and Minecraft.
00:06:59Those are some fun games.
00:07:03Haven't played Halo in a few years,
00:07:05But,
00:07:05You know,
00:07:06When I did play it,
00:07:07I did like it.
00:07:15We played Minecraft the other day.
00:07:17It's still fun.
00:07:18Nice.
00:07:19Who's your favorite football team?
00:07:21Erika.
00:07:34First thing,
00:07:35When it comes to,
00:07:36Soccer,
00:07:37I,
00:07:37Uh,
00:07:39Like Real Madrid,
00:07:41And,
00:07:42Ajax.
00:07:46Real Madrid,
00:07:46Nice.
00:07:47I like Real Madrid as well.
00:08:08Real Madrid and Ajax are the,
00:08:10Teams I like the most.
00:08:11I like Real Madrid as well.
00:08:12I like Real Madrid as well.
00:08:14I like Real Madrid as well.
00:08:16What's your favorite football team?
00:08:17I like Real Madrid.
00:08:19I know,
00:08:20Uh,
00:08:21Kylian Mbappe got sent off with the Red Card this,
00:08:23This past game.
00:08:25Actually,
00:08:25It was a terrible challenge.
00:08:26He,
00:08:27Is,
00:08:27He should not have,
00:08:29Made that challenge.
00:08:32I,
00:08:33No, to be honest, no, I don't think they're going to win against Arsenal.
00:08:38It's going to be Wednesday for me, but, you know, I don't see them winning against Arsenal.
00:08:44They have some good players on offense, like Vinny and Mbappe.
00:08:50But, I think, outside of Courtois, and Lunin, and Carvajal, who's injured, they don't really have any good defenders, in my opinion.
00:09:05So, I don't see them winning, let alone winning by four, to move on to the Champions League, to the next round of the Champions League.
00:09:12It is going to be a tough game, though.
00:09:23I do agree.
00:09:31It's going to be a home game, though, thankfully, but I just don't see them...
00:09:37Like, if they win, it's going to be like 1-0, 2-1, something like that.
00:09:42Um, but I don't see them advancing to the next round.
00:09:54So, which, which is a shame, because they've, but, to be fair, they've been, at least against Manchester City, if I remember correctly, as their last opponent.
00:10:07They got really lucky that they won in penalties.
00:10:09Uh, in the round of 16.
00:10:22It's that second game where they lost 2-0, you know.
00:10:27Manchester City was the better team, in my opinion.
00:10:29Oh, yeah, definitely.
00:10:39Definitely, I mean, if anyone can come back from, uh, from a 3-0 deficit in the Champions League, it'd be a Real Madrid, actually.
00:10:49If anyone can.
00:10:50But, at the same time, they've been very lucky, so far.
00:11:00They've definitely been very lucky, so...
00:11:02I do know that, at the, um...
00:11:12Same.
00:11:14Same.
00:11:15They got very lucky, because if I remember...
00:11:17They got very lucky that they won in penalties.
00:11:19So...
00:11:20Oh, I think we gave up our...
00:11:23No, no, no, we didn't give up a home run there.
00:11:25They're pitching against Michael Conforto now.
00:11:41Do you think they'll win against, uh, Arsenal?
00:11:43And if so, what do you think the final score will be for that game?
00:11:52Yeah.
00:11:55Roll a knuckleball right there.
00:12:21Surprisingly, that was an out, actually.
00:12:25So, we're gonna...
00:12:26We're gonna be relieved now.
00:12:32Relieved in ninth inning.
00:12:38But we won two-nale, though.
00:12:41We haven't walked anyone this, uh...
00:12:44This year, I think.
00:12:46Oh, so you're...
00:12:54You have a much more positive outlook than I do, Erika.
00:12:57Because I don't see Real Madrid winning 3-0.
00:13:00Let alone Arsenal advance.
00:13:01I can see Arsenal advancing, but I, uh...
00:13:04You know, on penalties...
00:13:06If they somehow do...
00:13:08Advance.
00:13:09But, you know...
00:13:10I don't really see Real Madrid winning 3-0.
00:13:17Let's go ahead and actually improve my, uh, player now.
00:13:20That's...
00:13:23On the, uh...
00:13:25Velocity for the knuckleball.
00:13:32On the break.
00:13:33A is to confirm.
00:13:52Control of the palm bowl.
00:13:53We're actually gonna confirm that as well.
00:13:55We're gonna take a look at the packages later.
00:14:03So we're gonna be playing against the Colorado Rockies.
00:14:05Have I played against the Rockies in...
00:14:07World to the show?
00:14:08I have twice, at least.
00:14:10Two games.
00:14:12Given up four hits, but I've gone 19.
00:14:15Yeah, definitely, Erika.
00:14:16Definitely, we're gonna see what...
00:14:17Let's definitely see what's gonna happen.
00:14:20Have some Kroger Purified...
00:14:23Drinking water now.
00:14:25Flavored water.
00:14:26Lemon.
00:14:29Both in one so far with 130...
00:14:32136.1 innings.
00:14:41Tracking out just over 42% of our...
00:14:49Uh...
00:14:52Batters we face.
00:14:53We haven't walked anyone.
00:14:55At least a 0%.
00:14:57At least a 0%.
00:14:57I have been streaming since...
00:15:022018.
00:15:05If I remember correctly.
00:15:07But...
00:15:07I've been streaming...
00:15:09On Twitch...
00:15:10Uh...
00:15:11For a daily basis since...
00:15:13Well...
00:15:15On and off since 2023.
00:15:17Actually.
00:15:19What about you, Eric?
00:15:21At least a stream.
00:15:36Let's go ahead and throw the palm ball.
00:15:38Do you have a Principle?
00:15:55Okay.
00:15:57Alright.
00:15:58So...
00:16:00I'll do the first one.
00:16:01All right, we actually hold the first wildcard to see if that's good.
00:16:15Or curveball against Ryan McMahon.
00:16:22I'm just not interested in using a mascot for my channel, if I'm being honest.
00:16:27Cover logo.
00:16:34We got a strike there.
00:16:51Use the curveball against Brenton Doyle.
00:16:59And we're going to give up a hit.
00:17:00Oh, and he ran over the...
00:17:07And he's going to steal third.
00:17:14Oh, that's going to be successful.
00:17:21It's going to be a successful steal.
00:17:26That was a good steal, though.
00:17:29I'll admit.
00:17:30Uh, what do you mean by mascot?
00:17:32Like, do you mean like a channel logo or anything like that?
00:17:48And unfortunately, that's going to be the first run we have given up this year.
00:18:07Uh, yeah, I have.
00:18:09I'm not interested.
00:18:10I'm just not interested.
00:18:14No, that was a good base hitting and base running.
00:18:29Uh...
00:18:31I could have easily avoided giving up that run.
00:18:35Let's go to the palm ball.
00:18:36Let's aim it for the lower right corner, which we got the strikeout.
00:18:42Let's go.
00:18:57Alright.
00:18:58So far, so good.
00:19:016-1 right now.
00:19:02I know though the...
00:19:03My favorite baseball team, the LA Angels, are doing well in real life.
00:19:10Probably a bad idea to leave that right in the middle zone, but if any pitch that a hitter
00:19:24will miss, it will probably be a knuckleball due to the unpredictable nature of it.
00:19:35Probably the fastball is probably going to be the worst pitch to leave.
00:19:39Right in the middle over the plate.
00:19:44I mean, McCarthy is up next, so...
00:19:54That's going to be the third out of the inning.
00:19:57That's good.
00:20:03Let's go with the two-seam fastball.
00:20:07That's going to be the second out, actually, of the inning.
00:20:34Ezekiel Tolvar.
00:20:43Knuckleball is probably my favorite pitch in all of baseball.
00:20:49I'm throwing more knuckleball pitchers, but I know how hard it is to...
00:21:04I know how hard it is to learn how to throw a knuckleball.
00:21:08Actually...
00:21:09I guess the way I'm sitting, so...
00:21:23In terms of like, you know, arm health, you know, and career longevity, it's probably the best pitch.
00:21:32Because there's the amount of strain, I'm sure, and the way you throw it probably doesn't hurt your arms as much as it does compared to the other pitches.
00:21:48You know, at least that's what I read on Wikipedia, so...
00:21:52I've never played, uh...
00:21:55Uh, the only time I've played baseball in real life was a couple classes in PE, physical education.
00:22:03As a kid, so...
00:22:05I was never on like, uh...
00:22:07Team at any level.
00:22:10So again, if you know, if you play baseball, you know...
00:22:15Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on anything I say about the, uh, pitches.
00:22:20Or anything about the game, actually.
00:22:26I was talking about unbreakable records earlier, at least I think I was.
00:22:30I know I can see, uh, Pete Rose's record being broken if a good hitter makes their debut early enough, you know, at a young age, and they play long enough, and they stay healthy long enough.
00:22:46And then a good home run hitter I can see easily beating Barry Bonds' unbreakable home runs record.
00:22:58But, uh, two unbreakable records I don't see being broken are Cy Young's innings pitched, which if I remember correctly is 7,356.
00:23:11And...
00:23:13Uh, Nolan Ryan's strikeout record.
00:23:17Which is...
00:23:205,714.
00:23:23Major League Baseball actually recognizes, uh...
00:23:31Cy Young is the only person to throw more than 7,000 innings of baseball.
00:23:37He's the only person that recognizes to, uh, throw more than 6,000 innings as well.
00:23:43So I don't see that, anyone, due to the sheer number of...
00:23:48Like, you'd have to make your debut at an early age, and you'd essentially have to stay healthy, and pitch, you know, 7, 8, 9 innings, and maybe play like 30, 40, 50 games in a single season.
00:24:04Um...
00:24:05Which is just not, um, happening in today's game.
00:24:10Today's baseball, it's not gonna happen anytime soon.
00:24:19And play like an elite level for like 20 years or something.
00:24:23Maybe 30 years.
00:24:25So...
00:24:29That's just...
00:24:32Not gonna happen.
00:24:36Whereas, uh...
00:24:37Nolan Ryan's record, just to get that strikeout record, is gonna be difficult.
00:24:44Because, in theory, both records are doable.
00:24:48In theory, but in practicality, you know, it's another thing, so...
00:24:52Nolan Ryan...
00:24:53Nolan Ryan has like 800 career...
00:24:57More...
00:24:58More than 800 strikeouts...
00:25:00Than second place.
00:25:03So, the sheer number of strikeouts you got each season, and to do it for 27 seasons...
00:25:09You know...
00:25:11It's gonna be tough, like, to stay healthy...
00:25:16For anyone, let alone get...
00:25:19That amount of strikeouts.
00:25:22You know...
00:25:25You know...
00:25:28For anyone, so...
00:25:32I think Max Scherzer...
00:25:35And, uh...
00:25:36There's another one.
00:25:38Justin Verlander are probably the closest players that are on our roster right now.
00:25:44And, uh...
00:25:47They are roughly 2,000...
00:25:50Around...
00:25:522,000...
00:25:53I'd say a little more than 2,000 strikeouts less...
00:25:57Than Nolan Ryan...
00:25:59Nolan Ryan's record.
00:26:00And I think they each...
00:26:01Missed at least one season for different...
00:26:07You know...
00:26:08So they have to play for another, you know, 10, 15 years...
00:26:11And get a lot of strikeouts and not actually...
00:26:14Miss a year.
00:26:15Although Nolan Ryan...
00:26:16Nolan Ryan did...
00:26:18Actually miss...
00:26:20He didn't play one year...
00:26:22Due to injury...
00:26:23But all the other years he actually did play at the Major Leagues in his career, so...
00:26:28I know Zack Greinke is another one pretty high up on the list...
00:26:33But I am not sure if he's on a roster or if he's retired.
00:26:37Because I know he was...
00:26:39A free agent at the end of last...
00:26:41After...
00:26:42When the last season ended, so...
00:26:43I, uh...
00:26:59So I don't see those records...
00:27:01Another record I don't see being broken is...
00:27:06Ricky Henderson's career...
00:27:09Stolen bass record.
00:27:10That's...
00:27:13He's like 500 more...
00:27:14Roughly 500 more stolen...
00:27:16He has 500 more stolen basses than, uh...
00:27:23Excuse me, than, uh...
00:27:24Lou Brock, who's in second.
00:27:27So that's gonna be a...
00:27:30He's gonna hold that record for a long time.
00:27:33If...
00:27:34That record's gonna be broken.
00:27:35I know Pete Rose...
00:27:37Pete Rose's record's gonna be held for a long time.
00:27:39Because...
00:27:40Of the fact that he was such a good hitter.
00:27:43You know, say what you want about him...
00:27:46Uh...
00:27:47Being banned.
00:27:48You know, that's a whole different debate.
00:27:49But...
00:27:51And Barry Bonds, you know...
00:27:53I know about his, uh...
00:27:55You know, say what you want about him and his controversies.
00:27:58But, you know...
00:28:01You know...
00:28:03You know, simulate disappearance.
00:28:08You know, say what you want about that.
00:28:10But, you know...
00:28:13He hit so many that it's...
00:28:16I...
00:28:17I...
00:28:18The thing is, I can see people getting within range of Barry Bonds' record.
00:28:21But I can't really see...
00:28:24Um...
00:28:26I...
00:28:27I...
00:28:28I can see people getting within the record.
00:28:29And one per...
00:28:30I can see someone, uh...
00:28:31Actually breaking the record if they stay healthy.
00:28:32And they play long enough.
00:28:34And they, uh...
00:28:35Hit enough home runs.
00:28:36But other than that, you know, like...
00:28:38Again, I could see...
00:28:39If Paul Host was an everyday designated hitter, I could see him...
00:28:42But...
00:28:45Otherwise, I...
00:28:47I...
00:28:48I...
00:28:49I can see them...
00:28:50I can see him...
00:28:52If Paul Host was an everyday designated hitter, I could see him...
00:28:59But...
00:29:04Otherwise, I...
00:29:07Otherwise, I can see if he's, I could have if he had stayed healthy.
00:29:21Because I know him, Pujols, and Otani were very talented home run hitters.
00:29:29And Pujols was less than 50 or 60 home runs away from breaking the
00:29:35career record. I'll put Pujols, that is.
00:29:50Ortiz actually was a couple hundred away, but he, you know, if he had actually kept on playing,
00:29:57you know, he would definitely, you know, he didn't retire. I could easily see him breaking the record.
00:30:03And Pujols kind of struggled to hit home runs this, you know, last couple of years. But
00:30:15that's a wild pitch on my part and then an error in terms of, you know, throwing it to
00:30:23second, I think. Yeah, Mike Trout could have if he had stayed healthy.
00:30:38Now there's a Mariners player. I think it's Julio Rodriguez. If he
00:30:51stays healthy and continues to hit home runs, he can easily.
00:30:55I could see him getting close if not breaking the record. I think it's either him or Juan Soto.
00:30:59I'm thinking one of those two.
00:31:04Otani can, but the issue with Otani is there are two factors that I think are working against him.
00:31:13His age, in the sense that he came, he was nearly 30 when he came into the,
00:31:20uh, when he made his major league debut due to him playing for like a long time in Japan in the MPB.
00:31:34So while the MPB is at a high level, you know, it's, the stats don't exactly count. And
00:31:39the fact that he, uh, pitches as well. He's the only full-time two-way player at the major league level.
00:31:50And, uh, he missed all of last year due to injury. Well, he played, he missed pitching all of last year.
00:32:00He actually hit last year. He didn't pitch due to injury, but, you know, I don't think he's pitched.
00:32:08So this year. So if he continues to pitch,
00:32:16you know, that's another factor because there's always that risk of injury,
00:32:24you know, pitching, you know, and hitting. So, and if the injury is severe enough,
00:32:30that could also factor him even not playing games on offense because like,
00:32:35you know, I'm not a doctor. I'm not a nurse. I'm not qualified to make diagnoses on any sort of injuries.
00:32:44But, you know, or the nature of anyone's injury. I'm, I'm uneducated in that sense.
00:32:53So this is just my uneducated opinion. But he was just lucky that, you know,
00:32:58it only affected him pitching that he was still eligible to play, actually.
00:33:03Granted, and he still played at an elite level. So to do that with the type of injury that prevents
00:33:19you from doing half your job, you know, I guess for him it would be half his job.
00:33:26To do that, you know, at the level he did is quite amazing.
00:33:34So I'm actually thoroughly impressed because I am not a talented baseball player whatsoever.
00:33:40I broke my wrist, this wrist twice, you know, on two separate occasions. And,
00:33:48you know, I was, uh, oh man, it hurt both times for me. I cannot,
00:33:57granted, one time when I did break it, I was playing American football.
00:34:01So, um, dang it, we gave up a hit. So, let's play an American football. So I couldn't play American
00:34:13football, but again, that is more physical than baseball. So, you know, but it hurt. You know,
00:34:27I, when I injured it, I, I, I was, you know, I tried not to cry, but you know, I wouldn't
00:34:33have been surprised if I did cry when the, you know, the first, I remember the first time I broke it.
00:34:36I remember, I remember I tried not to cry. I don't remember that. I remember the second time,
00:34:41but you know, both times if I remember crack that, I didn't cry, but I, I definitely was close to crying.
00:34:47So, yeah, I can't imagine playing, you know, at the major league level with any sort of injury. So,
00:34:54I'm not trying to make light of, you know, Otani's injury or anyone's injury, but you know,
00:35:02I, I am, uh, clumsy, actually.
00:35:10I'll be the first one to admit that I'm clumsy. I, I would not be surprised if I injured myself tripping
00:35:17over air. And I know that's an absurd statement to make that you could injure yourself tripping over
00:35:25air. But if someone, if it was possible, I'd be the one to do it. You know, again, I'm just trying,
00:35:34the only person I'm trying to make fun of is myself. I'm not trying to make fun of Shohei, you know,
00:35:41he is much, much tougher than I'll ever be. So, and a much better baseball player than I'll ever be. So,
00:35:50I, you know, for people to continue to do their job injured, whatever job that is, you know,
00:36:03you have my respect. Because you are much more tougher than I'll ever be.
00:36:10Especially, I, you know, I've seen people play football, American football games injured,
00:36:18like with a broken arm. And I'm like, dude, are you crazy? You could make your injury even worse.
00:36:28You know, I can, I, I can understand, you know, I played American football for two years. I played
00:36:34basketball for like two or three, for a handful of seasons as a kid. And I can understand wanting,
00:36:40and I played soccer as a, you know, seven, eight year old. I cannot understand wanting to help your
00:36:47team win, but at the same time, you know, wouldn't you help your team, wouldn't it be helpful if you,
00:36:59I know each situation is different, but wouldn't it be more helpful for your team to actually
00:37:05for you to be healthy and, uh, play than for you to be injured and play?
00:37:14Like personally, if I were a coach, I actually wouldn't mind coaching,
00:37:19you know, if I got the proper qualifications to, but, um,
00:37:27if I were a coach, I would not let any injured player go back. And I'd make sure that, you know,
00:37:35I hear from there, if they're, especially if they're like a, you know, playing for school or club,
00:37:42but you know, like as a kid, I would make sure that their personal doctor would sign off on it. And then the
00:37:50school doctor or club doctor, if they're playing for club, would actually sign off on that as well,
00:37:56before they can come back. And especially if it's a serious injury, like a concussion,
00:38:03or if it's a physical sport, you know, and you know, you breaking, you break a bone,
00:38:08I'd make sure their personal doctor, their parents and the team doctor, you know, all three, uh, sets
00:38:16of people can actually, I know the parents may not be doctors, but I'd make sure that all, make sure I
00:38:21have, you know, the school slash team doctor and the, their personal doctor would make sure it's okay
00:38:27before I let them back in. But, you know, concussions are now, concussions have always been serious,
00:38:37but I think people within the past 15 to 20 years have now really started to understand
00:38:44the seriousness of concussions and the damage they can do. And I think people didn't really
00:38:56quite appreciate that. And they should have, you know, it's easy to say we should have, but you know,
00:39:04no one, I don't think people really
00:39:06looked into it. And, you know, thankfully we had a, there's a famous Nigerian doctor named Dr. Bennett
00:39:16Omalu who looked into it and who looked into concussions in American football. And he,
00:39:22you know, looked into the seriousness of it. And I'm glad he did. I know that if I had known,
00:39:31I know I played around the time he had me, but I didn't quite know the full extent of the seriousness
00:39:38of concussions. So even though he, I didn't know of his research until later on. So I'm not, again,
00:39:47I'm not a medical expert, but I just, you know, go off what the medical experts say.
00:39:53So I like reading about, you know, those kinds of things and, you know,
00:40:05learning about those kinds of things, but at the same time, you know,
00:40:13when you hear about these football players
00:40:15players, doing something awful, you have to wonder how much of that was contributed,
00:40:22how much of that was due to their brain damage that they contribute, that football contributed to.
00:40:29You know, whether they, when you hear these, uh, and if you hear these athletes, you know,
00:40:34like American football players or any rugby or Australian football players or soccer players
00:40:40that are really good at headers or these, uh, people that work in combat sports, you know, that,
00:40:49you know, where they get hit in the head a lot.
00:40:53How many of them, how many, how much of the crimes actually are because of, you know,
00:40:59the brain damage they suffer? Because if you know, the brain damage, you know, if you get enough of it,
00:41:06even professional wrestlers where the matches are, are well thought out and are scripted,
00:41:12you know, you wonder, you know, if you get hit in the head enough times, it will cause damage to you,
00:41:18to your brain, you know, you hear about, you know, these football players doing something off,
00:41:25these athletes doing something awful or, you know, they're struggling with migraines or headaches or
00:41:31any other side effects. You know, how much of that would be to their, because of the concussions?
00:41:44I know, uh, my parents, thankfully, did not push me to play American football. I,
00:41:52you know, they allowed me to, but, you know, when I did, but at the same time,
00:41:59they didn't actually go out of their way to encourage me to play it. And looking back,
00:42:05you know, I'm glad that they, uh, didn't encourage me or force me to play American football because of the
00:42:11seriousness of concussions.
00:42:13Um, so I've, I'm thankful that they did, you know, they didn't, you know, growing up rugby and
00:42:26is not that popular here in the U.S. It's gotten more popular, but it's not, it wasn't popular growing
00:42:33up here, say within the last 10 years. Australian rules football was, it hasn't been popular here.
00:42:40So, soccer, again, started growing, but I was like a teenager when it started growing.
00:42:50When, you know, more people started taking soccer seriously, at least,
00:42:56yeah, here in the U.S.
00:42:59So, no, soccer, you wouldn't think, soccer's like a sport, you wouldn't think
00:43:03where people can get concussions. But, you know, with the, or, you know, brain damage. But if you get,
00:43:10you know, you can use your head to score. It is allowed in the rules of the game. And,
00:43:17you know, if you're good at header, if you get, you're good at heading goals and you do that hundreds,
00:43:23if not thousands of times, that will cause you to damage your brain. I know you can get concussions
00:43:29in baseball and basketball, but those sports aren't as likely.
00:43:34You know, it's as likely to get concussions in those sports, I'd say. At least the frequency of
00:43:48concussions is much lower than, you know, soccer, and that's even much lower than, you know, American
00:43:58football or rugby or any combat sports. Don't get me wrong, I like watching American football and I
00:44:16like watching boxing and, you know, MMA and kickboxing. And even though it's predetermined and scripted,
00:44:23I like watching professional wrestling. But, you know, at the same time,
00:44:27you know, you can, a lot of people think, oh, it's professional wrestling, it's fake, you know,
00:44:36you know, that's kind of doing, it's kind of insulting to the people that, you know,
00:44:43perform. And it's kind of insulting to the fans because, yes, you know, a lot of us older fans
00:44:52know it's predetermined, but, you know, they're still trained to do these things and they're still
00:45:00trained to do the moves. And my line of thinking is, yes, you know, not every, not every time you see
00:45:07an injury on TV or in a match, it's legitimate, they could be acting, you know. But, you know,
00:45:16they're still doing those moves, it's still risk of an injury, you know, taking those moves. You're
00:45:26still, you know, the wrestlers performing and taking those moves still could be at risk
00:45:35risk of a life-changing injury. You know, there's a wrestler in the 90s named Draws who,
00:45:49he and D'Lo Brown on WWE were actually wrestling and he took a powerbomb, which is just a normal
00:46:00move in professional wrestling. And unfortunately, something went wrong and Draws was paralyzed for
00:46:08the rest of his life. And it's, you know, Draws never blamed D'Lo Brown, so I'm not going to blame
00:46:18D'Lo Brown, so Draws never blamed him. It was just a mistake, it was just something, it was an accident and,
00:46:24you know, Draws was paralyzed with the neck down. And he later regained movement in his,
00:46:34I think, arms and legs, but he unfortunately was paralyzed.
00:46:39And just, you know, just in wrestling, what would have otherwise been a normal routine move, but
00:46:50not to dismiss the move or the severity of the injury, but, you know, that kind of life-changing,
00:46:54you know, injury. You know, you don't want to wish on anyone, so.
00:47:03You know, a controversial wrestler named Chris Benoit had severe brain damage when he died. He had CTE,
00:47:17that's, you know, he unfortunately, uh, committed murder and, you know, there, I'm under the belief
00:47:31that his brain damage was the contributing factor, but, you know, that's from him doing
00:47:37the diving headbutt for, like, 20 plus years, but it's unfortunate. I got lucky there on that strikeout.
00:47:49We sold, uh, the last game we sold Tropicana Field. I've actually been there, I've been to Tropicana
00:47:54Field in Tampa. It's, uh, actually in St. Petersburg, Florida, just outside of Tampa,
00:48:04but I have been to, been there, and I've been to Tampa.
00:48:17I like Tampa. I actually like Florida.
00:48:23I like Florida every time I went. I went to, uh, I've been to Miami a few years ago.
00:48:28Just a layover.
00:48:29I didn't really see much of it, unfortunately. I like to go to Miami again to see,
00:48:39to see it more.
00:48:41I've been to Orlando. I've been to Clearwater,
00:48:44Clearwater, which is another suburb of Tampa.
00:48:47I've been to Tampa, St. Petersburg, as I mentioned. I've been to, like, Buena Vista, Florida. I think that's where Epcot is.
00:48:55I liked Orlando, because I saw the old Amway, uh, I was getting confused which,
00:49:03those of you that, uh, know what it is, which of the Orlando Magic where they played,
00:49:09you know, was it the Amway Arena or Amway Center that was, uh, you know, destroyed,
00:49:15and where they built a new stadium.
00:49:20And, uh, one of them, it was the Amway Arena and the other was the Amway Center.
00:49:25I'm not sure if the names changed, but it's the old one that was, like, destroyed in, like,
00:49:322010-ish, around 2010-2009. It was around the time they went to the NBA Finals, like, just after that.
00:49:41And that was the stadium they went, they played, uh, that was destroyed. And I went there. I saw them
00:49:47play. That's when Dwight Howard led the team. And they actually played the Boston Celtics with, uh,
00:49:52uh, Paul Pierce and, uh, Kevin Garnett and Rayjean Rondo.
00:50:04Oh, I think Rayjean Rondo's retired. I think, I know the rest are, the rest of the players I mentioned
00:50:09are retired.
00:50:12That Magic team was pretty good, actually. They lost in the Finals to
00:50:16the, uh, the, uh, Lakers in 2010.
00:50:22Granted, I think any team, and I'll say any team, but I think,
00:50:27realistically, only Boston could have had the real, had a, the real, reasonable chance of
00:50:33beating the Lakers when Kobe and Pau Gasol and Derek Fisher played.
00:50:37Um, so, yeah.
00:50:54But, at least in the East, in terms of the NBA Finals,
00:50:58well, the West was much more difficult, because you had, uh, at that time, Golden State wasn't very good.
00:51:05Phoenix was actually good. I know they missed the playoffs this year, but,
00:51:09then Nash, and I, if you remember, uh, Stoddermall, Amari Stoddermall, Amari around that time, and,
00:51:16you know, Denver was good, like they are now.
00:51:20Denver and Phoenix went for, in between then and now, went through a couple bad years before
00:51:26re-building, but, you know, Denver had Carmelo Anthony, as well, for a couple of years.
00:51:34And, uh,
00:51:42may have had Allen Iverson around that time, or maybe a couple of years later.
00:51:49Let's see, Golden State wasn't very good, uh, Portland wasn't very good.
00:51:54It was a couple of years before they got Damien Lillard and CJ McCollum as their starting duo.
00:52:02Um, Utah was not, Utah was an average team.
00:52:13Milwaukee was an average team. I know they're in the East, but,
00:52:17it's like the old, this was around like when, uh, around the time when the Supersonics just moved to Seattle.
00:52:23No, Minnesota wasn't that good.
00:52:26The Thunder weren't that good either. They just had KD and he was in it.
00:52:31This was really before he took over the league.
00:52:33The Clippers were not that good. They were a couple of years away from being good.
00:52:43The Warriors were a couple of years from, about five years away from being good as well.
00:52:49They were a couple of years because they, they had Steph Curry who was just, uh, still relatively in his,
00:52:54time maybe in his rookie season actually.
00:53:01Then the Clippers, you know, DeAndre Jordan, I'm not sure if he was on the team, but he was,
00:53:09you know, in the league.
00:53:13Let's see how the Kings weren't good.
00:53:17This was, and, uh, Dallas was actually phenomenal as well. Dallas was another good team, but you
00:53:24couldn't really see Dallas beating Kobe or, uh, because Dallas just had dirt and whiskey. He
00:53:31mainly carried that team. San Antonio was great as well. Dallas was a good team and I think San
00:53:37Antonio was really the only team in the West that had a real, San Antonio and maybe Phoenix could
00:53:46around that time.
00:53:47And in the East, realistically, Boston could have been, you know, LA, the Lakers.
00:54:00Lakers were dominant. Brooklyn wasn't. Like, they were in New Jersey at that time.
00:54:08Wizards aren't good because they had John Wall, but they just, with him and Bradley Beal,
00:54:14they just could never really build around those two players or, uh,
00:54:22you know, get a deep run into the playoffs.
00:54:27This was a couple years before they got John Wall and, uh, Bradley Beal.
00:54:31Let's see. So I've got some Dr Pepper Zero Sugar with me as well.
00:54:47It's probably my favorite kind of Dr Pepper now.
00:55:06Excuse me.
00:55:07Dallas, right now Dallas made a terrible trade.
00:55:16Uh, they traded Luka, I almost said Luka Modric, but he's a Real Madrid soccer player.
00:55:23Luka Doncic, her name's Ryan, but they, uh,
00:55:27they traded Luka Doncic for Anthony Davis. And Anthony Davis is a talented player.
00:55:39It's just, his issues are that he can't stay healthy.
00:55:43It stinks.
00:55:53You know, if he was healthy, you know,
00:55:56I could see the argument, but...
00:56:03Fortunately, he's not.
00:56:04He just has trouble staying healthy. I'm not sure what the problem is,
00:56:10you know, or what the solution is, but he just keeps getting injured.
00:56:17So, someone more educated, you know, in terms of injuries.
00:56:21And, you know, the NBA can actually educate me on that in the comments section on YouTube.
00:56:28Or daily motion, if this is under two hours.
00:56:35Yeah.
00:56:35If someone can educate me on that, as to what the problem is, why can't Katie, or not Katie,
00:57:03why can't Anthony Davis stay healthy, and why can't...
00:57:07You know, what's the issue, what's the issue, and what the...
00:57:11His issues are health-wise, and what the solution is. I do not know.
00:57:17Again, I'm not going to make any...
00:57:20claims or anything like that. I'm just...
00:57:25When it comes to injuries and medicine and, you know, stuff like that,
00:57:29I go off what, you know, the medical experts say.
00:57:38Um...
00:57:45So, yeah.
00:57:46I have no...
00:57:48Anytime I talk about stuff like that, again, I just...
00:57:51You know, always talk to medical experts instead of getting information from me.
00:58:00I should never be the, uh...
00:58:08You know, when discussing medical topics, I should never be the end-all be-all for that.
00:58:13I'm...
00:58:15Not educated enough to actually...
00:58:20Give out advice on that. My always advice is, you know...
00:58:23When it comes to stuff like vaccines and stuff like that is...
00:58:26If you're not allergic to any of the ingredients or the vaccine, take it.
00:58:32But if you have questions, ask your doctor. Do not ask me.
00:58:35Get multiple doctors to tell you.
00:58:40If you need to.
00:58:52It's...
00:58:52I know some people are allergic to some ingredients and vaccine...
00:59:01One vaccine, but maybe not another. So, look.
00:59:13If you have questions, always listen to the medical...
00:59:26Medical advice and medical experts, but if you, uh...
00:59:30Have any questions, it's always best to ask your doctor or nurse.
00:59:36Your doctor or nurse, you know...
00:59:39Heck, ask multiple doctors and nurses if you need to, but...
00:59:43That's just my thoughts on the thing.
00:59:58So, yeah, I know. Anyway, uh, Luca...
01:00:01I know Dallas wasn't very happy, but there must be something going on that I missed.
01:00:06You know, in terms of, you know, the Mavericks weren't exactly happy.
01:00:12Maybe with his true... with Luca getting into...
01:00:16You know, shape for the season.
01:00:20And trying to prevent injuries.
01:00:24You know, what the issue is, you know, but...
01:00:26In terms of actually playing and actually doing what he can on the court.
01:00:34You know, for the most part, he's done his job. He led the team to the NBA Finals.
01:00:38So, maybe from an outsider looking in, you know, you're just trying to work with him and...
01:00:47Maybe they did, they tried to, but, you know, they just got fed up, so...
01:00:51Maybe he used to be assist off to...
01:00:55Then, when he was shot up, he could be able to get his job.
01:00:55And he's done with me.
01:00:56Maybe they are...
01:00:57But he's done with me.
01:00:57Happy to go on the side, but...
01:00:58No, no, no.
01:00:58We're done with you.
01:00:59You're doing that...
01:01:00You're doing your job.
01:01:01You're doing that...
01:01:01I'm not gonna be able to...
01:01:01We're doing that for a vision.
01:01:02You're doing that for...
01:01:02No, no, no...
01:01:03It's going to be up in the process, there's going to be some of my job.
01:01:05You're doing that for the passage, we're taking a year.
01:01:09That's what we're doing.
01:01:10You're doing?
01:01:10That's what we're doing.
01:01:11Okay.
01:01:12So, let's...
01:01:13So, you know, just from an outsider looking, it just doesn't look smart.
01:01:39Short-term-wise, yeah, it doesn't look smart, but long-term-wise, it is yet to be seen.
01:01:48So it should be interesting these next few years, how the seasons will turn out for both the Lakers and the Mavericks these next few years.
01:01:55So, those of you watching, what do you think of the Mavericks-Lakers trade with Anthony Davis and Luka Doncic?
01:02:17And, you know, if you're watching this a few years from now, how did the trade turn out?
01:02:24I have no idea when you're watching this.
01:02:26For all, I know you could be watching this in 2037, and, you know, I don't know what will happen in 2037, how...
01:02:36That's 12 years away, so we'll see.
01:02:43LeBron James is the leading scorer for the NBA, and...
01:02:47You know, I've seen...
01:02:51Actually, in all the major sports, I've seen...
01:02:54If I didn't watch it on TV, I've seen highlights of it.
01:02:59Of at least one major record being broken.
01:03:03Like I saw...
01:03:05I watched on TV the game where LeBron actually beat the career record...
01:03:10Set the career record for point score when he surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
01:03:18And...
01:03:19I was against Oklahoma City.
01:03:21I watched it on TV.
01:03:27And...
01:03:27Watched the highlights of it on SportsCenter, but I saw...
01:03:31The day it happened, when Barry Bonds set the...
01:03:36Major League Baseball's career home run record, and...
01:03:41Of course, I saw Payne Manning when he set the record for the most career passing yards.
01:03:48So highlights of that.
01:03:49But that was...
01:03:50But his record would be surpassed by Drew Brees, and then Drew Brees' record...
01:03:55Would be surpassed by Tom Brady.
01:03:57And...
01:03:58You know, Tom Brady currently holds the record for the most career passing yards in NFL history, which...
01:04:06I don't see really happening anytime soon.
01:04:10Because you have to have a...
01:04:12Very high work ethic, like Tom Brady had.
01:04:15And you have to stay healthy.
01:04:16There were really only two seasons Tom Brady did not play.
01:04:24His first year, where he just played like in a handful, I think one or two games, and he...
01:04:29Only completed one pass.
01:04:32That's because Drew Bledsoe was the starting quarterback.
01:04:35So like, Tom Brady...
01:04:37He came in for like a drive or something.
01:04:39I wasn't watching the NFL at the time in...
01:04:422000.
01:04:44And in 2008, when Tom Brady was...
01:04:48The starter.
01:04:49An established starter.
01:04:50He got injured in the first game.
01:04:53He managed to complete some passing yards.
01:04:55In that game as well.
01:04:57Just like he did in his first year.
01:04:58But he missed the rest of the season.
01:04:59I know in 2016, he got suspended for four games.
01:05:06Missed four games, and...
01:05:09That was due to the flake gate.
01:05:11Make of it what you will.
01:05:14And...
01:05:15He still contributed a lot of passing yards.
01:05:19But, you know...
01:05:20With the NFL, you have to stay healthy.
01:05:24And I'm kind of surprised Cam Noon didn't play longer.
01:05:27But I know...
01:05:28The reason I bring up Cam Noon is because he's a dual-threat quarterback.
01:05:32And...
01:05:33He's equally good at running as he is at passing.
01:05:38And...
01:05:38You know, you think...
01:05:40It's not really injuries that actually ended his career.
01:05:43It's just no team signed him.
01:05:45I don't know why.
01:05:47But, you know...
01:05:49I don't think it was injuries.
01:05:52But, you know, he...
01:05:54Felt like...
01:05:55I felt like he could contribute, you know...
01:05:57A couple more...
01:05:58Definitely some more seasons.
01:06:03And...
01:06:04You know, again, correct me if I'm wrong, but...
01:06:11Just the way I'm sitting.
01:06:13So, I kind of...
01:06:15I think, yeah, maybe like...
01:06:30He didn't miss...
01:06:31Like, I think injuries may have affected him in his final couple of years, actually.
01:06:35Yeah, I remember.
01:06:35But still, you know...
01:06:37Those weren't exactly career-ending injuries, you know...
01:06:42Maybe like season-ending injuries, but not career-ending injuries.
01:06:47Yeah, to break Tom Brady's passing record, you kind of have to...
01:07:08Definitely have a high work ethic, and you also have to stay healthy, but you also have to have a bit of luck as well.
01:07:15And not have, like...
01:07:18Severe injuries in too many seasons.
01:07:20And you also have to play as well.
01:07:24Play at a high level for as long as he did.
01:07:29It's like, Lamar Jackson is another dual threat quarterback, but...
01:07:36I don't see Lamar Jackson or Cam Noon.
01:07:38I definitely didn't see Cam Noon because he...
01:07:41You know, was such a good runner that he could easily...
01:07:44Run just as well as he throw...
01:07:46Throw...
01:07:47Throw...
01:07:48And that, if anything, Cam Noon and Lamar Jackson, I can easily see them...
01:07:52You know, I could have easily seen Cam Noon.
01:07:55I could have easily seen...
01:07:57And I can easily see Lamar Jackson...
01:08:00Staying on the Russian record if they weren't such good quarterbacks.
01:08:07Which, I know Joe Flacco was a good quarterback, but I know he kind of lost his starting job to Lamar Jackson.
01:08:14And I'm kind of shocked...
01:08:18That...
01:08:20You know...
01:08:27He, uh...
01:08:29No team wanted him, like, to start as a starter afterwards.
01:08:34After he left Baltimore.
01:08:36Because he did lead Baltimore to their second-ever Super Bowl, so...
01:08:41But, again, work ethic doesn't guarantee you to be successful in the NFL as well.
01:08:51You also have to have talent.
01:08:52And Tom Brady had talent.
01:08:54I know, uh, Tim Tebow...
01:08:56Had a good work ethic, but...
01:08:59You know, he...
01:09:02He's a much better talented quarterback than I'll ever be.
01:09:06But at the same time, he...
01:09:08Compared to the NFL quarterbacks, he wasn't that talented.
01:09:11The NHL...
01:09:12The NHL records I saw broken were...
01:09:26Uh...
01:09:27Patrick Merleau...
01:09:28So highlights of this on SportsCenter.
01:09:29Patrick Merleau played...
01:09:30Set the record for the most NHL...
01:09:33Games played.
01:09:34And Alex Ovechkin scoring the most goals played.
01:09:35Or scoring the most goals in NHL history.
01:09:36Yeah, I saw those on SportsCenter.
01:09:37Yeah, well, that was on SportsCenter.
01:09:38Not at all.
01:09:39Uh...
01:09:40Ah...
01:09:41Sh...
01:09:42We're probably gonna be...
01:09:43Uh...
01:09:44Sub-Center's gonna be...
01:09:47Uh...
01:09:48Super Bowl...
01:09:49I have...
01:09:50Two records I saw broken.
01:09:51One of the series...
01:09:52Two records I saw broken were...
01:09:54Uh...
01:09:55Patrick Merleau...
01:09:56Highlights of this on SportsCenter.
01:09:57Patrick Merleau played...
01:09:59Set the record for the most NHL...
01:10:01Games played.
01:10:02And Alex Ovechkin scoring the most goals played.
01:10:03Or scoring the most goals in NHL history.
01:10:04Yeah, so those on SportsCenter...
01:10:05uh, subbed out here. We have two, oh no we don't have two. How many, we have six strikeouts
01:10:13actually.
01:10:23I don't think I've ever gotten, uh, a triple play in a baseball game. And if I do get a
01:10:31triple play, you'll have to wait for next inning. Because we got a strikeout there.
01:10:47They are up 4-0 though. My team has been helping me out on offense.
01:11:01We're gonna get an out. They're a fly out that time.
01:11:15Yuki Matsui comes in for us.
01:11:18Anyway, I'm gonna,
01:11:31make a note of something actually.
01:11:45So we got some...
01:11:52Is our next game gonna be against, uh, Milwaukee?
01:11:58My next pitching game, not the actual game. So yeah, we still have a series against, uh,
01:12:05Miami to finish.
01:12:07And I think I'm gonna hop off here y'all.
01:12:14Thanks for watching. Deuces.
01:12:21Deuces.
01:12:22Deuces.
01:12:23Deuces.
01:12:24Deuces.
01:12:29Deuces.
01:12:32All right.
01:12:35All right.
01:12:37We just hear it.
01:12:38We just hear it.
