Lauren Sanchez speaks to a reporter after her Blue Origin flight to space.
Transcript
00:00I have no, it's not working, so someone just tell me when we're on.
00:08Does anyone have our...
00:09All right, and you just saw it there.
00:15All six astronauts coming out, all ecstatic.
00:19Katy Perry and Gayle King both kissing the earth.
00:24Very happy to be back down here, but clearly ecstatic.
00:28I don't know about you, Kristen, but my favorite was Lauren coming out and saying,
00:34where are my babies?
00:35And I also loved Katy Perry holding a daisy, I believe,
00:39and holding the daisy up to the sky after her daughter, Daisy.
00:44Sweet moment.
00:45With that, let's turn it over to Krista Thompson standing by outside the capsule.
00:48I don't really have words for it.
00:51Oh my God, Lauren, I want to cry just seeing you.
00:55So, I'm so proud of this crew.
01:00Like, I mean, Gayle, you know, we were just talking in the capsule.
01:04Doesn't even have ear piercings.
01:05She's so afraid to do anything.
01:07And she got in that capsule, and I think, like, it profoundly changed her.
01:12I mean, for me, I don't have, I can't put it into words,
01:19but, like, I looked out the window, and we got to see the moon.
01:22And it was pink.
01:22Was it pink?
01:23Full moon.
01:24It wasn't pink, but it was almost full.
01:26And earth looked so, it was so quiet.
01:33It was just quiet.
01:35Is it what you expected?
01:38No.
01:40No.
01:40Better?
01:41Yeah.
01:43I don't think you can describe it.
01:46Because, you know, when I was saying it was, like, quiet,
01:49but then also really alive.
01:52And you look at it, and you're, like, we're all in this together.
01:57Like, that's all I could think about is, like, we're so connected.
02:01More connected than you realize, because you just see right here,
02:06you see, like, you know, states and all these things that, like, divide us,
02:10but we're not.
02:11And what is your emotion?
02:15What makes you emotional?
02:16Joy.
02:18Complete and utter joy and gratefulness.
02:21Like, it makes me want to come back and just hug everyone and be, like,
02:24oh, my God, we're in this together.
02:27Like, that's what this is.
02:28And Jeff had told you that it will change you more than you know.
02:32And I know you're only a few minutes removed from the capsule,
02:36but I can tell already.
02:38Yeah.
02:40Oh.
02:43I'm, like, I don't cry that often.
02:46So I didn't expect to be this emotional.
02:47But it's also all the love that was in that capsule and all the heart and the feelings
02:55and all the things.
02:56And, like, seeing Jeff before I left, I just went, like, you know.
03:02I had to come back.
03:03I mean, we're getting married.
03:05If I didn't come back, that would be a bummer for me.
03:09Only you, by the way, would say this to me.
03:11You said, Jeff, if you don't want to marry me, you don't have to send me to space.
03:15You don't have to send me to space.
03:17What an incredible experience for you.
03:20But the fact that when you're in there, we got to hear some of your audio.
03:24But give us some of those moments when you guys, just from the second you took off to
03:28the second you landed, describe, if you can, for us, what we didn't get to hear.
03:32It was a feeling of joy and, like, camaraderie.
03:38It was a feeling of gratefulness.
03:40It was a feeling that we're doing this.
03:43And, you know, Alan Shepard, I told you about this, did the same exact flight.
03:47And he became the first American in space.
03:50And six women just did the same flight that...
03:53Yeah.
03:54He did it.
03:55Oh, I just want to keep hugging you.
03:58It's really cool.
03:59Yeah.
03:59And I hope that more people get to see this because I feel, I don't even know how much
04:06it's going to change me.
04:07And I want to thank the blue team.
04:10I mean, look at them.
04:11I mean, they work so hard to make sure this vehicle gets up and safe.
04:15And I'm so proud of you.
04:17I'm so proud of you.
04:18It's one thing to say you're going to do it.
04:20It's another thing to actually do it.
04:22And I know there's a phrase in your family that life takes off on the other side of
04:26fear.
04:26And here you are, just having landed back on Earth.
04:29And now you are officially Lauren Sanchez, already adding to your extensive resume, you
04:34are an astronaut.
04:35Congratulations.
04:36I'm very excited.
04:37I'm excited to share it with the world.
04:39And I'm so grateful to everyone here.
04:41I love you.
04:42Go be with your family.
04:43But I process and download what just happened to me.
04:46Well, get on in here, Amanda.
