00:00Well, snow continues to fall in northeastern Minnesota today.
00:02We are going to see some pop-up showers in southern Minnesota with potentially some gusty winds.
00:07The sun is back tomorrow. More rain is on the way, though, for Thursday.
00:20So we continue to see our latest system spinning over almost Lake Superior,
00:25bringing rain and snow showers to northern Minnesota.
00:27But further south, we're seeing some peaks of sunshine, and we're going to see more of instability-driven
00:32precip develop later this afternoon.
00:34You can see some of those breaks in the clouds and just a little bit of that with that cold, unstable air aloft.
00:39We're going to develop some pop-up showers and even a couple garden-variety thunderstorms, though,
00:44maybe with some wind gusts and some small hail, potentially.
00:48Low to mid-50s for highs in southern Minnesota with those peaks of sun.
00:51Well, it's only in the 30s to the north, so cold enough for snow up there ongoing,
00:55on and off snow and rain showers.
00:57But here are those pop-up showers, especially in southern and western Minnesota.
01:01And again, not severe, but these will be some more intense garden-variety thundershowers
01:06where we could see some strong wind gusts out of those and some of that small hail, as you mentioned.
01:11But up to a couple of inches of snow is what we're talking about up on the gun flint today.
01:15A lot more snow.
01:16Storm winds for the UP of Michigan, so at least we don't have that.
01:19But winter weather advisories for Lake and Cook counties.
01:22And then most of the North Shore, we have a wind advisory where we could see 50-mile-an-hour or higher gusts,
01:27the result of that system today, with gale warnings over Lake Superior.
01:31So northern Minnesota bearing the brunt of this system,
01:34but we're still going to see some implications or impacts, one of which is the wind today.
01:39We're all seeing very windy conditions.
01:41Tomorrow will still be windy, too, but not as blustery.
01:4410 to 20-mile versus 20 to 30-mile-an-hour today for those sustained wind speeds.
01:48But we are going to see some pretty high gusts, as I mentioned, along the North Shore, 40 to 50-mile-an-hour.
01:53But also in some of those thundershowers, we could see some 40 to 50-mile-an-hour wind gusts below the severe threshold.
01:59But again, just enough gusty winds out of some of those thunderstorms.
02:03And it's going to be colder tonight.
02:04Skies will start to clear late in the night.
02:0720s in northern Minnesota, 30s to the south.
02:09But a lot of clouds still today.
02:11But again, peaks of sunshine here in the southern part of the state.
02:13That's what's driving some of those late afternoon and evening showers.
02:17But tomorrow, we're going to see the return of sunshine.
02:19And that means it'll be a little warmer, probably mid to upper 50s across southern Minnesota.
02:2440s mostly to the north, though still in the Arrowhead, probably upper 30s only for high temperatures Tuesday.
02:30Spring is always slow to come up there.
02:32Still a foot of snow on the ground as you go deep into the gun front, too.
02:37So gradual progress there.
02:38But it's going to be warmer Thursday ahead of this next system.
02:4060s, maybe some low 70s in southwestern Minnesota.
02:43We're going to see this broad upper-level trough develop.
02:46A wave coming out of the northwest and an upper-level low kind of combining.
02:49And this is a stormy setup.
02:52This could develop severe weather to our south.
02:55And as we get into the warmer season, that kind of setup could be stormier for us as far as severe weather.
02:59But mostly showers and thunderstorms popping up Thursday afternoon especially.
03:03But a severe threat in Iowa Thursday into Thursday night.
03:07And then some lingering showers Friday.
03:08So this next system Thursday into Thursday night looks primarily liquid, even for northern Minnesota.
03:14Anywhere from a quarter to maybe a half inch, three-quarters of an inch of rain.
03:17So not quite as soaking as some of the systems we've had.
03:21We've talked about this pattern from March, which was much stormier than what we've been seeing so far in April.
03:26As far as the amounts of precip out of these systems.
03:29But 52 today in the Twin Cities.
03:32Again, look for some late afternoon and evening showers to pop up.
03:35Especially across southern and western Minnesota.
03:38They're going to be more isolated within the metro.
03:40Decreasing clouds tomorrow.
03:42Very seasonable.
03:43Mid-50s with sunshine.
03:44Should see a decent day on Wednesday too back into the 60s.
03:47Thursday will be dry for the first half of the day.
03:50Warmer too.
03:51And then the potential for some showers and thunderstorms popping up.
03:54Lingering clouds and a few showers Friday.
03:58And another decent looking weekend shaping up.
04:00Saturday looks bright with temperatures close to normal.
04:03Right around 60, both Saturday and Sunday.
04:05Could see some showers develop again maybe late Sunday though.
