Alex Garland shares the reason he sat out from the series before 28 Years Later

Now he and director Danny Boyle have returned to the horror franchise with '28 Years Later', writer Alex Garland has explained he and the filmmaker had stepped away from the series following '28 Days Later' because they "couldn't be in a cynical mindset' to make a direct sequel.
