00:00Hello, so today we are on Buchanan Street, it's raining, the sun has gone away.
00:04We are asking people about Glasgow's street art, what they think about it, what their
00:09favourite mural is in the city, what they think of Glasgow's relationship is with art.
00:14Glasgow is renowned across the world for its creative scene, so this one should be interesting.
00:20That's a good question because you pass by so many and you don't actually take any of
00:23them in.
00:24Well I enjoyed the Billy Connolly one, I thought that was really good, and then just up the
00:29road here is the one on youth and future.
00:31On the other hand it's going to show you information about Glasgow I guess.
00:37I haven't seen any, I can't remember.
00:39My favourite mural that I've seen in the city is at Oranmoor and it's the Alistair Grey one.
00:45I came up especially from London to go to see it on Grey Day which was back in February,
00:52and it's just stunning and it characterises what I feel about Glasgow.
00:57I used to visit it occasionally but I love it.
00:59It's not so much a mural and it's actually exposed to my age here.
01:03Do you know the guy?
01:04There's actually one round there, I think it's been taken away now.
01:08He goes around and he draws on the scaffolding, he graffitis the scaffolding and people always
01:12watch him, they always talk to him and he posts a video of it.
01:14My favourite mural is the mural at the top of High Street of St Mungo holding a little robin.
01:23And I know maybe not all of them were done by an Aussie artist but it's really similar
01:27to our silo art we have which is our grain silos and we've got artists that go around
01:32and paint murals on them.
01:34They look really good, like anybody that's got a skill to do that, like I'm envious.
01:38I can really only speak to the atmosphere that I feel here, it's got more of a bite than
01:44in Edinburgh.
01:45I love seeing them a bit, so it's not so much a mural but that's kind of the only connection
01:50I've got to it.
01:51If you heard more murals about Glasgow and the information about Glasgow as well, maybe
01:57even maps and how to move around, that information always helps.
02:01Writing the place up for me just shops, maybe there should be more, because I can't remember
02:06seeing any.
02:07Around the streets it's like a personal touch, it's someone's own sort of creation, it's
02:10their own art, because it's someone from the community sort of giving back to it.
02:15I know some people kind of hate it but I think it's always interesting seeing what people
02:19hear are actively influenced by instead of like just shop after shop after shop.
02:24There's like a little personal edge to it, it's always kind of uplifting.
02:27Yeah it's very arty compared to Edinburgh, yeah it's different, very modern.
02:33Edinburgh is still water and this is effervescent, it's sparkling and that's the only way I
02:37can characterise it.
02:38I think it's an extremely creative city, I think the music scene especially, there's
02:42so many like talented artists here everywhere and I think it's quite, I think it's actually
02:46quite grim when you walk around the city and there's absolutely
02:49no like clear cut pathway to it.
02:52Like there's colleges and universities everywhere but it never feels like accessible.
02:56So what is your favourite piece of art in Glasgow?
