Nouveau drame dans le ciel américain : un petit avion s'est écrasé samedi dans l'État de New York, aux États-Unis, faisant six morts, d'après les médias américains. Cet accident, survenu près de Copake, est le dernier d'une série de catastrophes aériennes : jeudi, la chute d'un hélicoptère dans le fleuve Hudson a coûté la vie à six personnes ; vendredi, le crash d'un avion léger en Floride a fait trois morts.

L'agence américaine de sécurité des transports (NTSB), qui enquête sur l'accident mortel de samedi, a indiqué lors d'un point presse que l'avion transportait six personnes, mais n'a pas directement confirmé le nombre de morts. Le New York Times a rapporté que les six personnes à bord ont perdu la vie, citant un membre de la famille.

00:21Cindy Mary, good morning. Authorities say this was supposed to be a fun family weekend.
00:26Siblings, their partners, and their parents were on their way upstate to celebrate a 25th birthday, but they didn't make it.
00:33Their plane went down, killing all six people on board.
00:37There was no response from the pilot, and there was no distress call.
00:41Investigators say an air traffic controller tried reaching the pilot of a private plane about a low-altitude alert Saturday before noon, but did not get through.
00:50The plane had taken off from Westchester County Airport en route to Columbia County Airport in Hudson, New York,
00:56when it suddenly descended at a high rate of speed, crashing into a field near Kopech.

01:08Aboard the flight was 25-year-old James Santoro, who lived in Manhattan and worked at a Connecticut-based hedge fund.
01:14His parents now live in Florida. His father, John Santoro, spoke with us over the phone.

01:24There were a lot of people who considered themselves happy to have him in their life and proud to have him in their life.
01:32Santoro was headed to the Catskills with his girlfriend, Corena Graf.
01:35Graf was a soccer star who earned the title of NCAA Woman of the Year.
01:39Also on the flight, her father, Dr. Michael Graf, her mother, Dr. Joy Saini, her brother, Jared Graf, and his girlfriend, Alexis Coyutis Duarte.
01:49Santoro's father remembered his last conversation with his son before Saturday's flight.
01:54He was just very happy with his life.
01:58It's still very difficult to believe that it really could have happened to them.
