00:00There will always be imperfections in any movie, sometimes plot holes, loose ends, or
00:05general issues with the story that don't quite make sense, and this is where the audience's
00:10disbelief needs to be appropriately suspended.
00:13This can be difficult however when a character just disappears without a trace, it happens
00:18more often than you think, but what about over the last 5 years?
00:22So let's dive in as I'm Adam from WhatCulture and here are 8 recent movie characters that
00:27just disappeared.
00:288.
00:29The Underminer, Incredibles 2 There have been a handful of franchises within
00:33the realms of Pixar that have seen something of a revival after many, many years.
00:38Toy Story 3 came out 11 years after Toy Story 2, there were 12 and 13 years between Monsters
00:44Inc and Monsters U, and Finding Nemo and Finding Dory respectively, and joining this list is
00:50The Incredibles.
00:5114 years after the original movie cut short the titular family's fight with The Underminer,
00:56Incredibles 2 picked up exactly where the narrative left off.
01:00Tony Ridinger was in the custody of Rick Dicker, and told of the fight that had ensued.
01:05In 2003 The Underminer only appeared at the end of The Incredibles after having nothing
01:09to do with the overall story.
01:11He was there as something of a tease for the family fighting together as a proper superhero
01:16team, and in a similar way he was only involved in the sequel at the very start, again having
01:22nothing to do with the overall main story.
01:24The villain got away from The Incredibles at the start of the sequel, making off with immeasurable
01:29amounts of money, but because of the collateral damage and the supers in general, no one seemed
01:34to care.
01:35He was forgotten about, and no one was particularly interested in tracking him down or bringing
01:40him to justice.
01:417.
01:42Efficient Man, Glass Onion As a sequel to Rian Johnson's incredibly popular
01:47Knives Out from 2019, with the exception of Benoit Blanc, Glass Onion boasted a completely
01:52different cast.
01:53Marta Cabrera and the Thrombris were replaced with Miles Braun and his disruptor friends,
01:59though the deliciousness of the mystery remained throughout.
02:02Though Miles Braun himself was supposedly one of the world's smartest billionaires, he was
02:06in fact an idiot with enough money to pay intelligent people to earn his reputation for him.
02:11He then simply sat back and enjoyed his own private island and the Mona Lisa on hire without
02:16ever really breaking a sweat.
02:18One such thing his money paid for was seemingly a hassle 3 covid vaccination.
02:23The characters were all able to remove their masks and go about their daily lives as normal
02:27after a quick spray from Ethan Hawke's character known simply in the credits as Efficient Man.
02:33Because it was an actor as big as Ethan Hawke, it was surprising that Efficient Man had no
02:37further role to play in the movie, he literally showed up, vaccinated everyone with no context
02:42as to exactly who he was, and then was never heard of or seen again.
02:476.
02:48The Detachable Kid, The Suicide Squad
02:50The cast of The Suicide Squad was so ridiculous in size that it seemed impossible to fit everyone
02:55into one movie.
02:57It all made sense by the end of the first few scenes however, when half of the titular team
03:01were gunned down on Corto Maltese.
03:04The likes of Captain Boomerang, Blackguard, Cervant and more bit the dust serving as a distraction
03:09to allow Bloodsport's true Task Force X onto the island.
03:14It seemed as though Weasel died during the chaotic opening, but the post-credits scene
03:18saw him simply get up and walk away.
03:20But what about the detachable kid, aka TDK?
03:24Nathan Fillion's character may have had a crap power and a crap way of using it, but
03:28he actually didn't die on that beach like most of the team did.
03:32While slapping and pawing at the Corto Maltese soldiers, TDK's arms were shot to hell, leaving
03:37him writhing in pain on the floor.
03:40However, the opening credits sequence that followed confirmed that TDK wasn't actually
03:44dead, but was instead in critical condition.
03:48So what happened to him?
03:49Was he ever extracted off the beach or was he left there to die by the heartless and ruthless
03:54Amanda Waller?
03:55Weasel survived and will reprise his role in Creature Commandos.
03:59So did James Gunn keep TDK alive with the intention of bringing him back?
04:045.
04:05Kingo Eternals
04:07This entry is slightly different from the rest in that the character at least announced
04:10that he was disappearing.
04:12While everyone else just went without so much as a goodbye, Kingo actually let everyone know
04:17what he was doing, and even returned to the screen before the end of Eternals.
04:21All that being said however, he undoubtedly still disappeared, and at a key point in the
04:26movie.
04:27Icarus had been revealed as the villain, and he and Sprite were about to go toe to toe with
04:31the rest of the Eternals.
04:33Whether Tiamut's emergence happened or not directly affected the future of the entire
04:37human race, and yet Kingo decided to take a step back.
04:41The rest of the Eternals were his brothers and sisters, and though it's admirable in
04:45a way to remain neutral in such a situation, did anyone actually believe that as a major
04:50character he would manage to stay out of it entirely.
04:54Kingo was nowhere to be seen for the entire final battle.
04:57Realistically, he may as well have gotten involved, as he still ended up at the mercy of Arisham
05:02next to Cersei and Phastos anyway.
05:05Number 4.
05:06Mike Sing 2
05:08Sing is a genuinely enjoyable kids film even in spite of its singing competition premise,
05:13with a stunning cast to boot.
05:15Alongside the phenomenal voices of Reese Witherspoon, Taryn Egerton, Scarlett Johansson and more,
05:20was Seth MacFarlane.
05:22The Family Guy creator's character, Mike, was a tiny mouse with one hell of a voice,
05:27but an attitude that got him in trouble on more than one occasion.
05:30When the little guy didn't appear or even get a mention in 2021's Sing 2, there was
05:35a theory equal parts dark and compelling.
05:38Mike likely would never have returned to be in Buster's new show anyway, as he was solely
05:42there for the money, but could it be that he was completely absent from the second movie
05:47because he had been killed by the bears who were chasing him?
05:50The big grizzly hanging off the back of Mike's car is the last we see of him after all.
05:55Harder to explain is the absence of both Pete and Eddie, who were present at the reopening
05:59of the New Moon Theatre at the end of Sing, and the three bunnies at the start of Sing
06:032 that were clearly part of the production, but had absolutely nothing to do with the excursion
06:08to Red Shore City or the new show at the Majestic.
06:113.
06:12The Fourth Skrull – Captain Marvel In 2019, Captain Marvel introduced to the
06:17MCU not only Carol Danvers herself, Maria and Monica Rambeau, and the mind-boggling
06:23Flerken, it also brought to life for the first time the Skrulls.
06:27Even better, the movie actually did a fantastic job of portraying the race as the villains
06:31of the piece, before pulling the rug from under audiences with a genuinely shocking revelation.
06:37Back when everyone thought they were evil invading aliens, there were four Skrulls that landed
06:42on Earth.
06:43They each shifted into the shape of someone on that beach, but not all four are to be
06:47accounted for by the time the credits rolled.
06:50There was of course Talos, his science guy Norex who was killed by Yon-Rogg, and the Skrull
06:54posing as Agent Coulson who died in Nick Fury's car.
06:58Now, for anyone keeping count, you won't be shocked to learn that we are still one slippery
07:03Skrull short.
07:04It could be that Norex was the alien that morphed into the old woman that Carol fought
07:08on the bus, in which case, what happened to the fourth Skrull?
07:12If Norex wasn't the alien that morphed into the old woman that Carol fought on the bus,
07:16what happened to the old woman Skrull?
07:19Either way you look at it, there is a Skrull still M.I.A.
07:23Number 2 – Nagini – Fantastic Beasts – The Secrets of Dumbledore
07:27Outside of the likes of the Dumbledores, Newt Scamander's name on the Morda's map, and
07:32the canon breaking McGonagall name drop that made no sense, there aren't too many characters
07:36that appear in both the Fantastic Beasts and Harry Potter franchises.
07:40One such character is Nagini, and because of this, audiences already know what her ultimate
07:45fate would be.
07:47Several decades down the line, the Maledictus would have permanently transformed into a snake,
07:52be one of Voldemort's most trusted allies and a horcrux no less, and would be sliced in
07:56half by Neville Longbottom.
07:58Even with this knowledge, there were some twists and turns during Fantastic Beasts – The
08:02Crimes of Grindelwald.
08:04Firstly, the fact that Nagini appeared as a human woman was mind-blowing, but by the
08:08end of the movie she actually aligned herself with Newt and the other heroes.
08:13With a compelling story between here and where she would ultimately end up, she was completely
08:17left out of Fantastic Beasts – The Secrets of Dumbledore.
08:21No explanation for her absence, she just simply disappeared from the narrative altogether.
08:26She may return further down the line if the movie franchise ever survives that long, but
08:31even if she does, there will have to be a big explanation as to where she was in the
08:353quel.
08:361.
08:37Rocky Balboa – Creed III
08:39Creed III was something completely different in the franchise in a number of ways.
08:44It was the directing debut of Michael B. Jordan, who brought with him an anime-inspired fighting
08:49style, but it was also the first in the franchise not to feature Rocky Balboa.
08:54Throughout all of the Rocky movies and the first two entries in the Creed franchise, Rocky
08:58was a mainstay, and yet for Creed III, he didn't appear.
09:02It was a decision made by Stallone himself due to creative differences, but what about
09:07in terms of the narrative?
09:08There are a couple of potential reasons for the Italian Stallion's absence.
09:12Firstly, by the time of the 3quel's events, Adonis is retired and living out in LA, as
09:18far away from Philly as you could possibly get in the USA.
09:21There really wouldn't be any need for Rocky to be out there, there is also a darker possibility
09:26pertaining to Rocky's poor health in the first Creed movie.
09:29Whatever the reason however, it seems a strange decision to give audiences absolutely no closure
09:35on the subject whatsoever.
09:36Donnie couldn't have just given him a call, or just mentioned in passing to Bianca how he
09:41was doing.
09:42And there we have it folks, our list of movie characters that just disappeared, but please
