Sussex World's Brighton and Hove Albion writers Derren Howard and Sam Morton assess the 2-2 draw against Leicester City at the Amex Stadium
Transcript
00:01Okay, we're outside the Amex Stadium after Brighton's 2-2 draw with Leicester City.
00:07I was almost going to say defeat there because it felt like a defeat, didn't it, Sam?
00:10They went ahead twice in the match, both with Jao Pedro penalties.
00:16He's absolutely ruthless from the penalty spot.
00:19But Leicester twice, they clawed their way back into the game, Sam.
00:23What did you make of it?
00:24Yeah, it was a really poor afternoon for Brighton.
00:27They obviously were going into the game with the lack of confidence after a couple of bad defeats against Villa and Palace.
00:33They were just looking to get back to winning ways.
00:35And I did say before kicking off, they had to start on the front foot, get a few goals and get the confidence going.
00:39And it didn't work out that way at all, unfortunately.
00:43Jao Pedro obviously scored from the penalty spot to get Brighton the lead.
00:48And they just didn't answer that.
00:49And they were pegged back.
00:50Kava Didi getting a really scrappy equaliser at the end of the first half.
00:54It was a really poor goal to complete for Brighton for the dig.
00:56And they started the second half strongly again on the front foot to get that second goal.
01:01And they managed to do it.
01:03And Pedro again, scoring for the penalty spot, you're never going to miss for the penalty spot.
01:07You can always guarantee it will be a goal as soon as he steps up to take one.
01:11But unfortunately, again, they kind of just stopped playing from that point.
01:14And they just didn't try and get a third goal.
01:16I did say to you, I felt like a third goal was needed.
01:18You did.
01:19Didn't come.
01:20And Leicester managed to get the equaliser once again.
01:23And two-all draws how it ended.
01:25It was probably Leicester that had the chances to, better chances to win the game in the end.
01:29They did the post, didn't they?
01:31Right at the end.
01:32Yeah.
01:32Poor afternoon for Brighton.
01:33More points drops in the game.
01:35That they had to win against a team at a relegation run.
01:37Yeah.
01:37Yeah.
01:38And it really knocks them back in their hunt for the European places, Sam.
01:43Fabian Herlesilla afterwards spoke.
01:45He almost said, look, we can't talk about Europe.
01:48But he's basically saying they're not good enough to be in Europe with performances like that.
01:51And you can't argue with that, really, can you?
01:53It's a fair comment, I think, in the press conference afterwards.
01:57I know.
01:57They've obviously got some injuries.
01:58And obviously, they had a bit of makeshift defence.
02:00Obviously, with Carlos Galeva in there this afternoon, along with San Luis Stump.
02:04He's really, really struggled as well.
02:06But I can't really pick up too many players that really impressed the players.
02:09No.
02:10He's saying Pedro Alge is really good for the defensive spot.
02:12But, kind of, apart from that, they're very wasteful, very sloppy.
02:16And, yeah, just not themselves at the moment.
02:19It's a real saying.
02:19So, they're obviously in a really great run of form before that FA Cup defeat for Nottingham Forest.
02:23And they've just used to have gone a bit wrong since then.
02:25Yeah.
02:25It's amazing the difference in the team, isn't it?
02:27Yeah.
02:27Between how they were prior to the international break to what they are now.
02:33It's a massive difference, yeah.
02:36But, oh, well, where they go again.
02:38It's Brentford up next, away at Brentford.
02:42So, hopefully, Brighton can pull back.
02:44But have a look at the Sussex World website.
02:46We've got all of the reaction and the player ratings up on the Sussex World.
02:51But, thanks.
