00:00It's Iran's only operating nuclear power plant.
00:04With a capacity of 1,000 megawatts, Bushihar nuclear power plant in southwestern Iran has
00:09been connected to the country's power grid since 2011.
00:14Iran also has a handful of nuclear research facilities and sites it uses to enrich uranium.
00:22The country is now enriching uranium up to 60% fissile purity, according to the UN watchdog.
00:29It's well above the limit authorised in the 2015 deal Iran made with six world powers.
00:36So how did Iran get here?
00:39Back in 2015, the deal, dubbed the JCPOA, placed restrictions on Iran's nuclear work in return
00:45for sanctions relief.
00:48The country was only allowed up to 300 kilograms of uranium, enriched up to 3.67%.
00:56But in 2018, Donald Trump pulled the US out of the deal and reimposed sanctions.
01:02Iran then resumed its enrichment activities.
01:05In 2022, the IAEA announced that Tehran was enriching uranium to up to 60% at the Fordow site.
01:13So how quickly could Iran make nuclear weapons?
01:16For use in a weapon, uranium needs to be enriched to roughly 90%.
01:21According to US officials, Iran could turn its uranium into one bomb in as little as a week.
01:28But these officials believe it would take Tehran between a year to a year and a half to build
01:32a nuclear weapon.
01:34Iran has insisted that its nuclear activities are peaceful.
01:38But last year, the head of the UN nuclear watchdog described the country's uranium enrichment
01:43is very worrisome.
