00:00Young American golfer Scotty Scheffler has made a meteoric and historic rise the top

00:05of the men's game. Despite this, he's still relatively unknown to golf and non-golf fans

00:09alike. So with that in mind, here's 10 facts about Scotty Scheffler.

00:16Scheffler's hometown is Dallas, Texas, where he played both golf and basketball at Highland

00:20Park High School. He stayed in the state of Texas for his college career, attending the

00:25University of Texas in Austin. During his time at college, he helped the golf team win

00:29three Big 12 championships, and he was also named Phil Mickelson Freshman of the Year in

00:352015. He graduated from college three years later in 2018 with a bachelor's degree in finance.

00:41After being named PGA Tour Rookie of the Year in 2020, his first win on tour didn't come

00:47until 2022. This first win was in February of that year, winning the Waste Management Phoenix

00:53Open. He'd then go on to win his second event just three weeks later at the Arnold Palmer

00:57Invitational, and he'd win his third tour event in March 2022 at the WGC match play in

01:04Austin. After this third win within nine weeks on tour, Scheffler became the number one men's

01:09golfer in the world rankings. In doing this, he broke the record for the quickest period

01:14of time between a first tour win and ascending the world rankings. His record of just 42 days

01:21between these two achievements will take some serious beating. Scotty Scheffler won the 2022

01:27Masters, his first ever major. With this win, he became the fifth golfer to enter the Masters

01:33as number one in the world rankings and win. The other four golfers to do this were Tiger Woods,

01:39Ian Woosnam, Dustin Johnson, and Fred Couples. Scotty Scheffler is married to Meredith Scudder.

01:45The two had been dating for six years before they tied the knot in 2020.

01:48They met while still at high school in Dallas, but they went to separate colleges in Texas.

01:54While Scotty was at UT, Meredith was at Texas A&M. But the pair continued to date while they

02:00were at college and married after they had both graduated.

02:03One of his favourite TV shows is the US version of the sitcom The Office. He said he watched

02:09a lot of the show during his downtime at the 2022 Masters, and he also said that Dwight Schroep,

02:14one of the seminal characters in the show, is his favourite character.

02:23He uses a bicentennial quarter commemorating American independence in 1776.

02:28Scheffler shot the 11th score of 59 in PGA Tour history. He shot 59 at the second round of the

02:342020 Northern Trust at TPC Boston. Scheffler's coach is PGA of America Hall of Famer Randy Smith,

02:41and the pair met when Scheffler was just five years old.

02:45Sticking with Scheffler's team, his caddie is Ted Scott, who was previously on the bag

02:49of Bub Watson for 15 years prior.
