USC Trojans GM Chad Bowden On Football Recruiting, Culture
Transcript
00:00It's just the culture. It's just the culture. It's all about culture and the, you know, I think
00:05things that you can do within a recruiting process, the earlier you get them and have them
00:12committed, you're already building your culture. And when you have that, when you have that and
00:17you can acquire that in high school and then you have years with the player and with the family,
00:21because you're not just recruiting a kid anymore, you're recruiting a family. And once you have them
00:27in your class and they sign here and you got four or five years, sometimes three, three, four or five
00:34years with them, that's how you build a culture of a program. And that's why that's going to be our
00:38emphasis. Ryan Young, TrojanSports.com, Rivals. How did you kind of get on this path career-wise and
00:46how much influence did your dad play, obviously being in sports player personnel and everything?
00:50What's the overall background story? Yeah. So, you know, I grew up, you know,
00:56my dad was a general manager of the Cincinnati Reds and the Washington Nationals, so I grew up in it.
01:03I watched him every day do it, interact with coaches, interact with players, interact with,
01:08you know, the ownership and, you know, everything that kind of came with it. So it was natural to me.
01:17It was something I really wanted to do. You know, now I had to learn.
