Fourteen-year-old Daniel Halliday drowned after being swept out to sea while playing in the waves with friends an inquest has heard.

00:12The teen was with two others at the beach in Sefton when he was swept out to sea on June 30th last year.
00:18The body of the teenager from Tubrook was discovered by an RNLI crew off the coast at New Brighton on July 8th.
00:25At the inquest at Boothletown Hall, Senior Coroner Julie Goulding ruled his death from drowning an accident.
00:31She said, tragically, the catastrophic accident unfolded when three young people were out having fun together and enjoying themselves.

00:53CCTV showed the three youngsters swimming in the sea just after 6.30pm before one of them was swept away.
01:01The beach is the only one in the country which is staffed by lifeguards every day of the year, the inquest heard.
01:07But they were on the beach from 10am to 6pm, so were not on duty when Daniel got into difficulty.
01:14Lifeboats, police, helicopters, the Coast Guard and fire and ambulance crews were involved in the search for the teenager.
01:19Michelle Williams from Sefton Council said there were 35 signs along the almost three and a half kilometre stretch of beach,
01:27which advised it was not a bathing beach and warned of the dangers.
01:31Daniel's family told the inquest signs had been faded when they visited the area.
01:36The coroner said it was a positive step that there were plans by the council to put more larger signs in place.
