00:09The Egyptian trend is an animation meme trend in which a character is shown next to an Egyptian pyramid.
00:15Both are covered by a wall of hieroglyphics, and then an ancient Egypt-themed version of the character dancing is revealed.
00:21On March 24th, 2025, TikToker iSatek posted an animation set to the track Screwbot Factory 2 from Rhythm Heaven that gained 5 million views in two weeks.
00:30In the animation, a hieroglyphic style drawing of their Sonic the Hedgehog OC Satek is shown on screen.
00:36A wall of hieroglyphics covers the drawing, and then as the beat drops, the image transitions to a more detailed drawing of Satek doing an Egyptian dance that has been compared to the Yonka Zone dance.
00:45This is the earliest known version of the meme.
00:51As it garnered viral spread, it inspired further animations copying its style.
00:59On March 29th, TikToker AmyAXD posted a template for the meme that gained over 8 million views in 10 days.
01:06On the same day, TikToker SiggyX posted a version of the meme featuring a Suguru Ghetto thirst trap that gained over 7.2 million views in the same time frame.
01:14Creators would make and post all kinds of versions of the meme, featuring their favorite characters, celebrities and influencers,
01:20and even pets.
01:21And of course, many users would also make parody versions of the trend.
