00:00The Immigration Department detained 288 undocumented migrants in a raid at
00:07Herntian Khajang on Thursday night for various offences. Immigration Deputy
00:12Director General of Operations Jafri Mbok Taha said the detainees included
00:17242 men and 46 women from nine countries. He said the joint operation,
00:24involving National Registration Department and Civil Defense Force as
00:27well, saw 785 foreigners and 250 locals screened across six blocks of shop
00:34houses. He said the detainees, aged between 18 and 60, are suspected of
00:40various offences, including lacking documents, overstaying and violating past
00:45conditions. Most of them worked at nearby food outlets and factories, with several
00:50found hiding in toilets and sealing spaces. Authorities said some detainees
00:55were even suspected of working at a gambling outlet. Investigations are
01:00ongoing into possible illegal gambling activities and employment of
01:05undocumented migrants. The detainees were taken to the Immigration Department in
01:10Putrajaya for documentation before being sent to the Semenyi Immigration Depot.
