Donald Trump loves Fox News and Fox News loves Donald Trump. That's a long-standing symbiosis, rarely interrupted. But on Wednesday morning, Trump's favorite network pushed back on his tariff push. He changed course a few hours later.

00:00Donald Trump changed his mind about tariffs this week.
00:03Why?
00:04One reason may be Rupert Murdoch and specifically Fox News.
00:07Sometimes we think about Donald Trump as a social media guy
00:10because he used to tweet a lot and now he's got Truth Social,
00:13his own social media platform.
00:15But he's really an old school media guy.
00:17He reads print newspapers and he watches cable TV,
00:21particularly Fox News.
00:22And for the first few days after Trump announced his tariff policy last week,
00:26if he watched Fox News, he saw people defending those policies.
00:29But on Wednesday, something had changed.
00:32Over on Fox and Friends, anchors were reading a New York Post story
00:35about a small business that was getting decimated by tariff costs.
00:39And on Fox Business, JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon was saying
00:42this country was probably headed for a recession.
00:45And Trump definitely saw the Dimon interview
00:47because he was posting about it that morning.
00:49A few hours later, he changed his mind.
00:51Well, I thought that people were jumping a little bit out of line.
00:56They were getting yippee.
00:58You can imagine a lot of different reasons why Trump had changed his mind.
01:01One notable one was the reaction of the bond market.
01:03But I'm pretty sure Fox played a role.
