00:00St Oswald's Hospice is a local charitable hospice rooted here in the North East.
00:05They have supported local people and their families for over 35 years.
00:09With the vital support of its staff, volunteers, donors, customers and supporters,
00:14the hospice provides expert, dignified and compassionate care for everyone of all ages
00:19who are living with a progressive life-limited condition and their families and carers too.
00:24This week they have announced some exciting news on who their star of their Much Loved Trial will be in 2026.
00:32Okay so today we're here to announce that next year in 2026 it will be our 10th anniversary art trail.
00:41So we started in 2016 with the Great North Snow Dogs and we have just announced this morning
00:48that in 2026 it will be Tales on the Tine featuring Peter Rabbit.
00:53So the trails are free, publicly accessible art trails and we have a number of big sculptures
01:00which form a trail which you can follow with a map or an app and collect them all.
01:05And they are decorated by professional artists and sponsored by businesses.
01:09And then the trail is supplemented with about double the number of little statues
01:15and they're painted by schools and school children and children's groups.
01:19So the sponsorship pays for the trail to actually happen and then at the end of the trail we gather all the sculptures back in
01:27and then people come and see them at our farewell weekend for the last time
01:31and then after that they're auctioned off and the proceeds of the auction go to St Oswald's charity.
01:37I think that we maybe thought that we may not do this again after 2023.
01:45We do these every three years but some people think they're annual but they're actually every three years
01:51and they take a huge amount of organisation.
01:54And I think after Shaun the Sheep we just felt like we couldn't top that for a character.
01:59And then Wild in Art, who are the trail producers, pulled Peter Rabbit out of a hat
02:05and then we were like well he's such a multi-generational character.
02:10You know my husband had a Peter Rabbit book and there are still, you know, he's still on the television today.
02:16So we just couldn't resist.
02:18Wild in Art create meaningful and innovative public art trails that touch hearts and sparks imaginations.
02:25They bring people together through unforgettable experiences that create a lasting impact.
02:30Hi there, my name is Charlie Langhorn, I'm the MD and co-founder of Wild in Art.
02:36And our role at Wild in Art is to work with our friends and partners around the world
02:40on helping them deliver big bonkers brilliant public art trails.
02:44And today it is hugely exciting with our great friends at St Oswald's Hospice up in Newcastle
02:49to announce our latest trail with them.
02:51Can you believe our fourth trail with St Oswald's Hospice?
02:54And so exciting, hopping with excitement because this time it's going to be Peter Rabbit.
02:59Peter Rabbit.
