00:00United Sikhs Malaysia's President Sunil Sukvir Singh, who is in Myanmar on a humanitarian mission,
00:13said he feared for his life as he experienced his first-ever tremor on Wednesday night in Mandalay,
00:19affected by the March 28th earthquake.
00:21We were around 10 o'clock at night. We were all unpacking our bags,
00:27and suddenly there was a tremor. For me, it was the first time that I actually experienced a tremor in an earthquake area.
00:38And later on, we found out the tremor was of four Richter scale.
00:42And I was sitting down on a stool, and I felt my whole body was like shaking.
00:47It was really scary. It lasted about 15 to 20 seconds.
00:54But the 15 to 20 seconds seemed very, very long.
00:57I can't imagine what the other people felt, the people in Myanmar felt when it was a 7 Richter scale, 7.7 Richter scale.
01:05Sunil and his team of nine other volunteers arrived in Yangon on Tuesday.
01:10Equipped with vital relief supplies, the humanitarian organization then made a 12-hour journey to Mandalay,
01:16where more than 3,300 people were killed by the earthquake.
01:20The team has set up its base at the Gurdwara Sahib Mandalay House of Worship,
01:26which has also been partially damaged.
01:28Since morning, we've been cutting all the tarpulins into 20 feet and 30 feet tarpulins,
01:36so that what we see since last night is a lot of people are actually sleeping under the skies.
01:42They do not have any kind of shelter.
01:46So they're sleeping in the open without mosquito nettings, without a shelter on their head.
01:51So the team is going to go area by area for those people who do not have any shelter on their head,
01:58to make shelters for them.
02:00Sunil said they have also gone to other places of worship around Mandalay to see what kind of help is needed there.
02:06While another team will be going to go to the Ambika Temple,
02:12so we have one team, Gary, who has gone to the church to check out the condition of the church
02:17and to see what we can do for them.
02:20We are at the Gurdwara Sahib Mandalay.
02:24Behind me, you can see that the whole team of Langar people are busy making food
02:30because today evening we are distributing to 1,000 people their dinner.
02:36Today's meal, 1,000 meals, hot meals are basically going to go out to the areas around Mandalay.
02:42They're staying on the street underneath some kind of trees.
02:47Some of them are sleeping under trees, some of them are sleeping under...
02:49Some of them have a shelter on them, some of them don't have shelter.
02:52But they do not have food, they have lost their home.
02:55United Seeks Malaysia said the affected communities are in urgent need of food,
03:00clean water, medical supplies and shelter.
03:03A 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck the Saageng region near Mandalay on March 28th,
03:09causing tremors that were felt in several other nations.

03:17with the earthquake damaging thousands of buildings, monasteries and temples.
