The Australian Electoral Commission says it's reviewed its processes and preparations ahead of the federal poll to ensure WA voters don't face the same issues that emerged during the State election. It comes as one WA candidate successfully renounced her dual citizenship just 24 hours before nominations close clearing the way for her to contest the election.

00:00Getting to work ahead of polling day.
00:04The AEC hoping the federal election runs much smoother than the recent state poll.
00:11We're confident in our data, we're confident in our ballot paper numbers, in our staffing numbers.
00:17WA's March election, run separately by the WA Electoral Commission, was plagued with widespread problems reported at polling booths,
00:26including long voter lines, ballot paper shortages and vote counting delays.
00:31The issues are now being investigated by an independent review, including the outsourcing of election staffing.
00:38But the AEC's looked at its own data, comparing it to the WAEC's to avoid the same issues.
00:45We know that there's been some gaps in service offering, we know that we're filling those gaps, so we're confident.
00:50We have had a look at some of the issues that were reported in the media, as well as online,
00:55off the back of the WA state election.
00:57I'm very confident that our plans have built everything into account that we need to.
01:02The AEC also expects most voters won't wait longer than 15 minutes on polling day,
01:07with staff ready to service a record number of enrolled WA voters, more than 1.9 million.
01:14This centre might look like organised chaos now, but the space will come alive on May the 3rd,
01:20with hundreds of AEC workers counting pre-poll votes from 6pm on election night.
01:26Community independent Kate Hewlett also getting her ducks in a row after previously hitting a roadblock in her federal bid for Fremantle,
01:34successfully renouncing her British citizenship a day before nominations close.
01:39I don't think I've had a proper night's sleep for two weeks, and last night I slept like a mummy in bed.
01:46So physiologically I was on a nice edge, and now I feel like we can take on the world.
