Premier Chris Minns speaking about the new Goulburn SES Operations Centre on April 10, 2025.
Transcript
00:00We're really appreciative of the Council and the Federal Government coming together with us to invest in this facility.
00:07It's absolutely needed and it's an investment that delivers a huge payback for the local community.
00:14Investment in the state emergency services is fantastic for the state.
00:18The reason for that is that it's driven by volunteers, good people who devote their spare time,
00:25perhaps they're retired from work, maybe they do it on the weekends, but it's an enormous amount of commitment and time to their local community.
00:33It can be incredibly rewarding work as well and my great hope is that as a result of this community,
00:39this SES Centre being opened, with the open day not far around the corner,
00:44we can really set a big bold offer to the Golden community.
00:48Think about becoming an SES volunteer, you'll get a real kick out of it, you'll join a fantastic team,
00:54you'll get the kind of expertise that you wouldn't have ordinarily had
00:59and you'll do something fantastic for your local community.
01:02The SES got a big jolt in the arm, a fantastic boost of confidence as a result of the emergency response
01:11to ex-tropical cyclone Alfred.
01:14It's exactly what we needed for the SES, they were on the ground incredibly quickly,
01:19the communication was clear and consistent, we kept people safe and it showed the best traditions of this wonderful government service.
01:26So hats off to all the volunteers from the SES, you did a great job, you're always there when we need you.
01:33Our job is to give you the resources that you need to keep the community safe.
