Walt comes full circle with Disney 100 exhibition in Paris  'His family originally was... from a little town in Normandy called Isigny-sur-mer. That's where the name Disney comes from. The D-I-S-I-G-N-Y.' Becky Cline, the archives director for the Disney company, explains the French roots of Walt Disney. At the Paris leg of the worldwide Disney 100 tour, Cline entices locals by adding there are 'a number of special touches that you can only see in this version of the exhibit here in Paris this year.' 00:00His family originally came from France, from a little town in Normandy called Designies-sur-Mer.

00:12That's where the name Disney comes from, the Designies.

00:16And ever since then, the family moved from France to England and Ireland and Canada,

00:22and then finally to the United States.

00:24But it was founded here.

00:26That family is from France.

00:28Walt Disney took his very first trip out of the United States.

00:32He came to France to serve right after World War I ended and drove an ambulance for the Red Cross here.

00:42And so it was his very first trip abroad.

00:44And so he kind of became a man in France.

00:47We've added a little segment that is just about Disneyland Paris.

00:52Also we have interactive tables that you can go in and learn all about all of our parks around the world including Disneyland Paris.

01:00So there's a number of special touches that you can only see in this version of the exhibit here in Paris this year.

01:06Most of the art that's in this exhibition is original.

01:10The only pieces that are reproductions are those that are very fragile and can't travel.

01:14But there's a lot of original art and a few reproduced pieces.

01:18But in this particular gallery there's a reproduction of a beautiful piece of concept art of the Disneyland Paris Sleeping Beauty Castle.
