Peter is running the Great Bristol Run 2025 half-marathon to raise money for Cots for Tots, a charity he holds close to his heart.

Peter’s son was born three and a months prematurely, and the family had to stay at the hospital for around 102 days.

During this period, they received a lot of support and donations from the charity.

Peter now wants to give back to Cots for Tots by taking part at the Great Bristol Run.

00:00Hello I'm Peter Abram. I'm running for Cots for Tots. That's a charity that's
00:06quite close to our hearts because my little boy was born three and a half
00:10months premature and we decided that we wanted to try and give back to the
00:15charity that was so helpful whilst we were at the actual hospital ourselves.
00:18Whilst we were in the hospital we were there for quite a long period of time.
00:22We spend whole days in there a hundred and I think 102 days in the hospital in
00:28all so we were in the hospital a lot there was a lot of stuff donated by the
00:35charity whilst we were there and there was a lot of little tags on things saying
00:40donated by such and such through Cots and Tots and I decided that I really wanted
00:45to put back into that when we had chance. It's been a long time coming it was eight
00:49years ago my little boy was in there, nine years ago actually, that he was in
00:52there but it's finally a good point and a good time for me to be able to do so so
00:57trying to give back to a charity that gave so much to us at the time.
01:01Is this the first time you'll be running the Great Bristol Run?
01:05Yes it's the first time I'll be running the Great Bristol Run. If I'd thought
01:08about it I should have said I'd do a 10k but we signed up for a half marathon so
01:13now I'm in training for that 11th of May hopefully I'll be ready to do it.
01:19How has the experience been so far?
01:22Really hard, incredibly hard. I've dieted for the last two weeks because I felt
01:28that losing a bit of weight might help me get round so I've gone on to a strict
01:32diet about 16 days ago so I'm not having any pizzas on weekends, no more beer, no
01:39coffee, no dairy, no bread, no anything really but it's helping and my run last
01:47weekend was a lot easier hopefully this weekend it's going to get easier again
01:50so
01:53That's something Chris has had, is there anything you'd like to add?
01:57No only really that it's a really important charity and hopefully that
02:02anyone sees this they'll be encouraged to give really generously to them and I'm
02:08hoping to do my part and give a really good amount by the end of the run.
