00:00Yeah, it's been good. Obviously, two close games, so I'm sure we're going to get a few more grey hairs earlier than predicted.
00:08But when you're winning games with cricket, you're obviously always very happy with that.
00:12And from a batting point of view, I've been feeling all right.
00:17As we know, in the IPL, you really need to take the power play on,
00:21and I've been given all the freedom from coaching staff, management, captain and stuff like that.
00:26So, always good with Mitch as well. We're getting along really nicely.
00:31And yeah, he takes the game and moves the game forward quite quickly.
00:35So it's a nice partnership to be involved in.
00:38And as you know, in T20 cricket, if you can get your team off to a good, quick start,
00:43it goes a long way in terms of setting the game up.
00:45Just a quick follow-up. There are many highlights from this game,
00:49but if you had to pick one game-changing moment, then what would it be?
00:55I haven't even thought back on the game just yet, to be honest.
00:58I'll get back to you in two minutes.
01:00I will tell you, more than a couple of questions about the batting performance.
01:07Obviously, it would be fair to assume that your batting meetings must have been about,
01:13a little bit about KKR spin bowlers, because Barun and Narayan are considered among the world's best.
01:18One came into the bowling in the fifth hole and the other came in the seventh hole.
01:23But neither of them were allowed to settle.
01:25Both you and Marsh do have at least five numbers.
01:28Some issues against spin, but today it did not seem to be the case at all.
01:32Could you tell us a little bit about what that discussion might have been about tackling those two people
01:37and considering how well you guys did today?
01:39Yeah, I mean, whether it be quality spin or quality seam,
01:44I always want to back your strengths and in T20 cricket you're looking to take the game on
01:50and looking to take whichever bowler it is on, especially if the wicket's pretty good.
01:54So you back your strengths, you can't just sit there and knock it around when it's good wickets.
02:00So you back your strengths, you take the game on.
02:03At times it works out, at times the bowler gets the best of it, but that's just the game.
02:08And that's really all we chat about is the strength of the batting unit.
02:12Each guy is quite different in where they score, and some guys are really good against spin,
02:18some guys are really good against sort of the quicker bowlers,
02:21and we try to dovetail as a group and get the job done.
02:24But yeah, you take the game on in your strengths and see where it can get you.
02:28Also, since you're a former captain of an IP team yourself, and I would assume you started part of the leadership group here as well,
02:34what was the thought process behind keeping Marsh as the opener for this season,
02:39and Bowler at three instead of, say, someone like Bunt at three?
02:42Could you just explain these two batting positions from NSJ's perspective for this season?
02:47I'll be brutally honest, I'm not too sure. We started out like this, and it's been going alright since then.
02:53So, yeah, I think it's mostly because myself and Mitch have opened the batting before,
03:01and in various formats as well, so it probably just fell on our side in terms of opening,
03:08and then quality players in the middle order in Nicky and Rishabh and Davey Miller, and the list goes on as well.
03:15So, it's nice post-power play to have a guy like Nicky Poore in batting.
03:20Obviously, he really takes down spin, and then it's on Mitch and us to hopefully get us through that power play,
03:27and then Nicky can come in and do his thing after that.
03:29A quick one, I wonder why you've been kind of taking the boxes in batting.
03:37Is it a point of concern about making runs when he's defending?
03:43Whether it's going to be the slight experience at the pace of that?
03:47Any thoughts on that?
03:49Yeah, look, it's difficult. I don't bowl much, but I have bowled before,
03:53and when guys are taking you on like that, it can be really difficult on good wickets,
03:57really quick outfields, and some of them really small grounds as well.
04:01So, it really just tests their skills. If it's landing on the day, then any bowler can be great,
04:08but once batters put bowlers under pressure, it's hard to get back into the game.
04:13So, always lessons learnt, I guess. Like you mentioned, not many games,
04:18in that bowling line-up for us. So, each game is a massive opportunity for them to learn and fine-tune plans,
04:26and then hopefully when you get to the game next time that you ultimately execute better,
04:31because that's where the results are. It's all about execution, and for the bowlers it's tough, it's really small margins.
04:37Hi. I wanted to know your thoughts on Igwe Shrathi, and what makes him different from other players?
04:48Why do you think has he been so successful in his first season, from a technical point of view?
04:53How is it different from, say, your traditional experience?
04:56Yeah, he is different. Obviously, he can take the ball both ways, with a little bit of mystery about it as well.
05:02So, that's a big advantage for him. But, like I said, now it all comes down to execution,
05:08and he's the one that's holding really good lengths for us, and enabling us to build a little bit of pressure.
05:15So, I think that's probably been his biggest strength, is his control. Being able to go both ways is obviously a massive strength,
05:21but with the slightly smaller boundaries and the ball travelling, if you're missing lengths, ultimately you're going to fetch.
05:28So, that's probably been his biggest weapon so far, this IPL. He's been really good at holding a good length.
05:34I'm just calling up. Have there been any conversations around his celebrations, in terms of, he's already received two finals from,
05:42and he went ahead with the celebration today as well. So, if in case he incurs another fine, and he's been one of the best bowlers.
05:52So, have there been any conversations regarding controlling bowling personality?
05:57I'm not too sure. I'm sure there has been conversations individually with him, from the management group and from Rishabh.
06:03So, I'm not aware of any conversations, but I'm sure he understands where he is at the moment,
06:09and the value that he brings to this team, and he needs to be on the park for us.
06:14So, keep going.
06:16Peace out, will share!
06:18Peace out.
06:20Peace out.
