00:00Surgeries can be invasive and scary processes for patients, involving intense cuts and long
00:09recoveries. However, this new robot could make serious surgeries more efficient by giving doctors
00:15a way to see better and manipulate tissue in wild new ways. This is Dr. Alberto Rodriguez Navarro,
00:21surgeon and founder of Levita Magnetic, the company behind the new mechanism. According to him,
00:26it gives surgeons an unprecedented view inside a person's body during surgery, which he says is
00:31critical, not only letting them make fewer cuts, but also speeding up the process and allowing for
00:36more surgeries in a single day. And if you're wondering about the company's magnetic nomenclature,
00:40it's named that because the new surgical process involves a robot, which is equipped with high
00:45powered magnets, allowing magnets to be attached to body tissue and organs, which doctors can then
00:50manipulate more safely than other methods. With Dr. Rodriguez Navarro saying, this process reduces
00:55incisions, pain, scars, and time in rehab. The robotic surgical platform was just cleared for use by the
01:01USDA this past fall, with its first commercial surgery recently taking place at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio.
