00:00Hi, I'm Leah, I'm 20 and on Thursday evening I was arrested at a welcome talk with Youth Demand.
00:07This is a welcome talk that's completely open to the public, you can see it on our website, on our Instagram.
00:13Yet, this welcome talk was raided by at least 30 police officers and 6 of us were arrested and taken into custody.
00:20They took our phones, they took our laptops, they took my French grammar book as evidence.
00:25In custody, I wasn't scared because I knew that my friends and community around me would know exactly where I was and they'd keep me safe.
00:33At midnight I was interviewed and at 1am I found out that my house was raided.
00:39This is a student house, 4 female students in the house raided by 5 police officers storming in at 1 in the morning.
00:47This is a scare tactic.
00:50I was arrested under conspiracy to cause public nuisance.
00:54But I know that going to a welcome talk about the climate crisis and genocide is not conspiracy to cause public nuisance, it's my right.
01:02So I will not be scared by these draconian laws and I will keep taking action with Youth Demand.
