00:00The youth are the hope of the country.

00:02That's why it's important that at a young age,

00:04we encourage them to be socially involved

00:07so that they can help their community.

00:10That's right.

00:11To talk about what the youth can do,

00:14we have with us today, Hans Tejero

00:16from the Junior Chamber International of Valenzuela.

00:18Good morning.

00:19Welcome here to Rise and Shine Philippines.

00:21Good morning, Ms. Ayan and Prof. Tejero.

00:23Good morning, Hans.

00:24Alright.

00:25For our viewers and those who want to be involved

00:29in various activities,

00:31tell us the goals and vision of JCI Valenzuela.

00:35What is your vision and advocacy?

00:37Okay.

00:38In JCI Valenzuela, like all other JCI chapters,

00:42we have this mission to provide leadership opportunities

00:48that empower young people to create positive change.

00:52We achieve this through the four areas of opportunity.

00:56That's business and entrepreneurship,

00:58community impact, self-development,

01:04and all other things.

01:07It's very holistic with JCI.

01:11Okay.

01:12Given those vocacies and the programs,

01:14how do your beneficiaries get these benefits?

01:19For our beneficiaries, we create projects

01:26and then we choose our beneficiaries.

01:28Like?

01:29Like now, we have this project called Sewing to Perfection.

01:34Okay.

01:35This is in partnership with Barangay Mapulang Lupa,

01:41livelihood center.

01:42This is a group of single parents

01:45that we teach how to sew.

01:48We support this group by giving them supplies and equipment

01:54so that in their own simple ways,

01:57they are close to their house, to their barangay,

02:00and they can earn.

02:02That's a great program.

02:03This also has trainings.

02:04Yes.

02:05We also provide them trainings

02:07through the help of our local government in Valenzuela.

02:10These livelihood programs are a big thing for them.

02:13Now, talking about the youth,

02:16how do you encourage young people to join your activities

02:21and to be active in your organization?

02:24We all know that young people are very active in social media.

02:30Correct.

02:31We really promote our projects

02:34and show them through our Facebook pages and Instagram.

02:38We show our different projects there.

02:42They see it and feel happy to join JCI.

02:47We also encourage our members to invite their friends

02:52to come and join us in our projects

02:54because you won't feel the impact unless you join us

03:00and you do it personally.

03:02Volunteerism is important.

03:04Yes.

03:05Being a hero.

03:06That's right.

03:07Talking about that a while ago.

03:09I learned that Hans really left his old job

03:14to really serve here at JCI and do projects.

03:18Are you currently the president?

03:19Yes.

03:20I'm the 2025 president.

03:24At JCI, we are only given one year to lead.

03:28You really make the most out of it in your one year of presidency.

03:33If I'm not mistaken,

03:34Senator Wingel Cagayan was also a member of JCI.

03:36Yes.

03:37He was also the president.

03:38He was our revival president in Valenzuela.

03:41Yes, he's still very active in our organization

03:45and super supportive like his brother, Mayor Wes Cachalian.

03:50Even in Valenzuela?

03:51Yes.

03:52Hans, as the president of JCI Valenzuela,

03:56I wonder what is the impact of your activities for you?

04:02Because we know it has a big impact on the community.

04:04But for you, what's the impact of doing all these things

04:07which might also encourage other people to do volunteer work

04:12and also join JCI and be of service to others?

04:15Okay.

04:16If I may share, I am now a mother of two children.

04:20Okay.

04:21Yes.

04:22I'm doing this for them so that in the future,

04:25they can see that,

04:27Hey, my mom did this.

04:29In our own little ways,

04:31you don't have to be famous or big to help the community.

04:36And I want that to instill in my children

04:39that in their own little ways,

04:41they can also help and serve our community.
