00:00It definitely helps when our team is picking wickets in the power play, coming on to the
00:04bowl the 6th over or after power play, it definitely helps when you see the scoreboard
00:07and there are two down or three down.
00:09So that is helping me do my job better.
00:11Do you think Siraj is in good rhythm now?
00:17I think he's coming off a good, good practice session.
00:19We've had great sessions together.
00:21The work that he's put in from January or February that he's been working on, everything
00:26is going well.
00:28He's releasing the ball well, he's feeling confident and yeah, things are going well
00:32for now.
00:33In the second match, you had the bowling unit perform well together.
00:34Though Rashid is not in the wickets today, he can play the right way.
00:35Sir, in the bowling unit, how fast can you get to the wickets?
00:46Yeah, definitely I think if you look at the wins that we've had, it came with a lot of
00:50understanding of what the wicket is behaving like and adjusting our game plans accordingly.
00:56So if as a bowling unit, we are able to do that consistently, it is really helpful going
01:00forward in the tournament.
01:01How was the pitch?
01:04Well, the pitch was slightly slow when we got on to bowl.
01:08It was not really coming off the fuller lengths.
01:11When Abhishek got out as well, that didn't really get on to the bat.
01:14So looking at that, it became very clear that we had to bowl straighter lines and we were
01:18able to do that pretty well.
01:19Before you said in the last few years, we have seen you take a predominant role in the
01:26move-on.
01:27You are a night watch and you are coming in pretty normal in the teams.
01:28How did you fit in and what were the discussions ahead of the season?
01:36Yeah, the discussions were pretty simple.
01:38We have the bowling unit where any of us can bowl at any stage of the game.
01:42And given the skill levels all of us have, we should be able to do all the roles pretty
01:46well.
01:47And having bowled a lot of outside powerplay bowling in 50-year cricket, it just makes
01:51it that much more the clarity that I have coming on.
01:55I know what has to be done and we have put in the work as a team.
01:59We know exactly what plans we come in with and that's really helping us.
02:02Your slow ones seem to be coming very easily off the hand.
02:07What will you do to come in at the end of the match?
02:11Yeah, it's really important to hit the lengths right, whatever you are bowling, even if the
02:15slower ones are deceiving the batsmen, it is important that I hit my lengths right.
02:19And now that I am hitting my lengths right, I think the slower ball is as much effective.
02:22First off, is there any update on Jaleb Phelps?
02:28Nothing sir.
02:29It's too early for now.
02:30He's just been icing.
02:31We don't really know what it is like.
02:32In the pre-match response, you were told that Akshish Nara played a big role in Siddharth's
02:33form.
02:34How has it been working with Akshish for you and the whole bowling unit?
02:44One thing is for sure.
02:46He's played a lot of cricket at the highest level for a very long time.
02:48He even made a comeback at the last few years of his career and that's got to be a lot of
02:53learning for him.
02:54And all that he's doing is passing on that knowledge that he has about the game, being
02:58able to adapt to situations, going into games with a lot of clarity and definitely when
03:03you have somebody that's done it multiple times, it is a lot more easier even when you
03:07go to him with any of our questions.
03:10So that is helping all of us.
03:12What do you think are the weaknesses in the batting unit that on paper is very strong?
03:23Well, it's more than you looking at the opponents, we are a team that really looks at what we
03:29can do the best and on a wicket like this, no matter who the batsman is or who we are
03:33playing, we set our game plans right and if we can follow it, I think that does the work.
03:40Was Washington promoted today?
03:45Was it a plan or was it a decision?
03:49Everybody is played in different positions when we play practice games and everything
03:53and Washy is somebody that can do the job at all places.
03:56Like I said, we have a team where luckily we have the people that have the skill levels
04:00to bat at any number, bowl at any stage of the game and that worked well for us.
