01:00Here, we are not challenging the parliament.
01:26This is a Muslim majority state and we have all the right to speak on something that directly
01:30affects J&K and we feel that there should be a discussion on how the bill will impact
01:36the people of J&K and that is the reason.
01:39There are many members in the assembly who have signed on the adjournment motion.
01:43We hope that considering the sentiment of the people of J&K and the elected legislature
01:49of J&K, the speaker will admit and give us time to speak on this.
01:54Not everybody is happy with the Waqf-e-Amendment bill.
01:56It is a direct attack on the religious minorities, the minorities of this country and we feel
02:02we have all the right to speak and this is an August House.
02:05The National Conference is in ruling and in power and the way they have done the unconstitutional
02:14actions in this parliament and I feel that if they bring an unconstitutional adjournment
02:24motion again, then it will be called as unconstitutional.
02:28The bill that has been passed by the parliament and that has been stamped by the President
02:34and now we consider it as a sub-judice and it has even gone to the court.
02:39You tell me, the assembly of the Union Territory, J&K, will discuss the Waqf-e-Amendment bill?
02:45It is a matter of shame that you do not believe in the laws of the parliament.
02:50Whom will you believe in?
02:51Alright, I am going straight across to Mir for more on that.
02:54Mir of the National Conference there making it very clear that the bill is not acceptable
02:59and also that this matter is in court right now.
03:02It can't be accepted, the protest would continue.
03:05Yes, Ms. Neha, in fact even before this assembly session started, we know assembly has gone
03:13on a heat break and now the budget session has resumed.
03:18The NCMLAs and leaders have made it clear that they will raise this issue of the amendments
03:23in the Waqf-e-Amendment bill in the assembly and that's exactly what has happened.
03:27The National Conference supported by some opposition MLAs and independents basically
03:32pressed upon the adjournment motion and called upon the Speaker that this issue is ensued.
03:39J&K is a Muslim majority area and that's why there should be a debate on this because this
03:47is unacceptable.
03:48Now post that obviously, one such adjournment motion that was brought in by Sajjad Lone
03:54was dismissed by the Speaker and in fact on this as well there was a ruckus.
03:58Since it was all planned as far as National Conference is concerned and obviously the
04:02BJP MLAs opposing it tooth and nail are trying to suggest that this assembly does not have
04:07the power, the mandate to discuss this because it's already been done by the Parliament.
04:11That's the line of the BJP but quite clearly NC and BDP, other opposition is not ready
04:19to let go this issue.
04:20They've raised it in a big way and already ruckus in the J&K assembly.
04:25I'm going to thank you for joining in Mir Farid.
04:27They're getting in those details at this point in time with the NC MLAs making their protests
04:33loud and clear.
04:34The BJP is also in fact protesting this NC of course against the WAF amendment bill which
04:39they say is a matter even pending in court and it's not acceptable to the people of J&K
04:45says the ruling party.
