00:00From the point of view of the United Kingdom, our total trade with the United States is about 300
00:05billion pounds. That is, I suppose, about 400 billion dollars. And of our exports to the United
00:15States, which is 182 billion pounds last year, a huge amount of that, 124 billion, was services,
00:25for which, of course, no tariffs apply. So from our point of view in the United Kingdom,
00:29our exports of 58 billion, which would be made up of cars, automobiles, scotch whiskey,
00:38and obviously very serious for those industries. But it's, I think, very much more limited.
00:43But there is a defense issue here. I mean, we make the back end and other parts of every single
00:50F-35 Joint Strike Fighter that is made in the world. And we export those to the United States.
00:59So sticking a tariff on manufactured goods in the United Kingdom, part of a project in which
01:06the United Kingdom is an equity partner with the United States, just seems to me to be,
01:13I'm afraid, alongside some of the rather ignorant remarks that have been made about the United
01:18Kingdom.
