00:00With tightly packed ranks, holding hands and marching in unison to the Central African
00:06Republic's national anthem, nearly 5,000 protesters rallied behind opposition lawmakers
00:12to reject a third term for President Faustin Akanje Ntundera.
00:16Demonstrators flooded the streets of Bangui waving banners that read, Stop the Third Term.
00:23The opposition praised the strong turnout, particularly among young people.
00:28As it nears the end of a second term, it manipulates public funds to claim that the people want
00:34a third term.
00:35But today is a victory for Central African people.
00:38Why?
00:39Because 90 percent of those who marched from Jackson Bridge to Bonga Da monument were young
00:45people.
00:46Adults accounted for less than 10 percent.
00:48This proves that the youth are aware of their future and refuse to be intimidated by a machine
00:54of pressure made up of Russian Wagner and mercenaries.
00:58The Central African youth have said no.
01:09While denouncing the intimidation tactics linked to the Wagner group, protesters also
01:14criticize what they see as the government's failures, particularly in the public services.
01:21The country is grappling with severe water shortages, a crumbling health care system
01:26and a failing education sector.
01:31Even in Bangui, the issue of parent-teacher persists.
01:34It's a crisis, and yet this country is led by professors and educators.
01:39They should have prioritized fixing the education system, but instead it's collapsing.
01:46Given the dire conditions Central Africans face, we in the BRDC have mobilized to tell
01:52President Tundera no third term.
01:58The Republican bloc, on the defense of the constitution, BRDC, had vowed to sustain the
02:04pressure through continued mass demonstrations in the coming weeks and months until the government
02:11backs down.
