00:00The effect of the trade war in the Philippine market will only be partial.
00:05According to experts, it is still possible for more people to export Philippine products.
00:11This is Bea Gasa de Guzman of Radyo Pilipinas with the latest news for the country.
00:17The Philippine economy will continue to suffer due to the continuous entry of immigrants to the country
00:23despite the ongoing trade war in the global market.
00:27In an interview with Radyo Pilipinas World Service, Rizal,
00:30Commercial Banking Corporation Chief Economist Michael Rickafort,
00:34cried that there is still an opportunity for the Philippines after the resignation of the United States President Donald Trump
00:40that the US will not reduce the import of products by 10%.
00:45It is more expensive to export to America.
00:47Maybe other Asian countries will sell more to other countries other than the US, like us.
00:52They will sell more to us, to China.
00:56Not to other Asian countries.
00:58There will be more competition.
01:00It is like a punishment to other countries that the US has a high expectation of exporting products to the country
01:07and is even more concerned about the ongoing trade war.
01:11Rickafort cried that its effect in the Philippines is only partial
01:14because it was the second lowest reciprocal tariff in the country.
01:20In fact, it is possible that more products will be exported to the Philippines to benefit consumers.
01:27The country is now considered an alternative market compared to other countries in the region
01:32that have a higher reciprocal tariff.
01:35At present, the US and Japan and Malaysia have set aside 24% of their exports.
01:4149% in Cambodia, 46% in Vietnam, 36% in Thailand, and 32% in Taiwan and Indonesia.
01:49This is not higher than the 17% that will be exported to the Philippines.
01:55From PBS Radyo Pilipinas, Bea Gaza de Guzman for Balitang Pambansa.
