00:00Teddy Mellencamp is opening up about dealing with her own mortality.
00:04During an interview with Us Weekly published April 2nd, the Real Housewives alum shares how
00:08she's had to think about her possible death since beginning her cancer treatments last month.
00:13As she tells the outlet,
00:14I'm fighting for my life, but also for my family's life and all the people I love.
00:19In February, Teddy got the devastating diagnosis
00:22that she had multiple brain tumors that had spread to her lungs.
00:25In the weeks that followed, the 43-year-old underwent brain surgery to remove some masses
00:31and began radiation and immunotherapy to shrink the others.
00:34She tells the outlet that in June,
00:36I find out exactly where we stand with the treatment plan.
00:40If you need to do another round, if there's any other surgery,
00:43if it's the end, it's a hard pill to swallow.
00:46And as for how the two Ts in a pod podcast host is coping with the very possibility of her death,
00:51she admits quote,
00:52Everybody wants me to be super positive all the time.
00:55One of my coping mechanisms is being sarcastic.
00:58I'd rather joke about it and have the best possible outcome
01:01than be completely in denial and have my heart broken.
01:04Teddy also shares that she's put her kids into therapy
01:07to help them through the trauma of their mom's battle,
01:10saying,
01:10I'm not equipped to fully handle this.
01:12It is helping me because they ask me questions
01:15that I probably wouldn't have thought to give them answers to.
01:18Teddy continues,
01:19They realize when I'm in pain and how massive the surgery was.
01:22I don't know that they know the rest.
01:25I can't imagine my life without them.
01:27So I'm going to do everything I possibly can,
01:29no matter how mean it makes me.
01:31I can't imagine any of them living without me.
