00:00Something that's really interesting about this election is that there are a lot of independents
00:05running in regional states.
00:07Some of the electorates we looked at included Calais in the NSW Central West and Wonan in
00:13Victoria's West.
00:15These electorates have been national strongholds for most of the past couple of decades, but
00:19now they're being contested by independents who are funded by the Regional Voices Fund
00:24and Climate 200.
00:26These electorates have seen massive demographic change, with a lot of people moving from the
00:30cities for remote work or moving out to find cheaper housing.
00:35That is part of the reason that these independents are making the race so tight in these electorates.
00:40I think maybe we need a change, we're such a safe seat that we sort of get neglected
00:45and no money gets spent down here.
00:47We need a new surf club and we need new basketball courts for the kids, so it'd be great to get
00:51some new facilities.
00:52I feel like there are more options, there's lots of change for Alex Dyson and seeing lots
01:00of orange dogs around, which we haven't usually had, we've always just been Liberals, so it's
01:04nice to see that there might be some change.
01:06You need to have people who are going to sit back and have a real good think about what's
01:11going on out there, and to think what the government we have now, what did they inherit
01:18from the one who reckon they're going to do it and make it so much better.
01:21We're not in the city, we're not where it counts really, are ya?
01:24You know, it's like everything, all your fees and charges and whatever, it all goes back
01:28to the city.
01:29No, I don't think anything's changed really, to be honest, it's the same old choices.
01:34I don't really care who wins or loses, to be honest, I'll probably vote Labor.
01:40It's good to see an independent still in the Clare area, and it does give us more options
01:46because you're not just looking at a particular party, you're looking at them independently,
01:50what they offer, what they can do for the area, and hopefully, you know, they can make
01:55some changes.
01:56It's a bit hard with an independent though, I think, without a party backing.
02:00Australia needs somebody, you know, to do for Australia, you know, like America, we
02:06do everything for America, where everybody govern like a horse, pulling one way and the
02:14other one pull like that, you know?
