00:00The Philippine Para Swimming Team is now getting ready for their competition in the Para Swimming World Series

00:06that will be held in Fuji, Shizuoka in Japan from April 10 to 12.

00:11This is what our teammate Daryl Oclares has to say.

00:15In their first heavy competition this year,

00:18the Philippine Para Swimming Team will compete to show their skills and win a medal

00:24in the third edition of the Para Swimming World Series 2025

00:28that will be held in Fuji, Shizuoka in Japan from April 10 to 12.

00:35It is expected that the top swimmers of the country will be the first to go home

00:41including Ernie Gawilan who won the 2024 Paris Paralympics.

00:47According to Gawilan, his target is to show his best performance in the World Series

00:52so that he can shorten his time and get a podium finish.

00:58For now, I'm excited because this is the first competition that we will participate in this year, 2025.

01:09So, I'm excited for the results of the competition.

01:13My dream is to have a medal like this in the World Championships.

01:19But it will be hard for us to be able to compete there

01:24because they are also top players in other countries.

01:28So, we will just compete in the competition.

01:32Asian Para Games Gold Medalist Gawilan also discussed

01:37what aspects of his swimming that he should strengthen

01:40so that he can compete in the World Stage.

01:44For now, stamina is the most important.

01:48Especially for me, my event is quite long, 400 freestyle.

01:55So, I really need endurance.

01:58Coach Tony and Coach Bryce taught me that.

02:04In the PTV Sports interview with Philippine Para Swimming Team Coach Brian Micael Ong,

02:10he admitted that the cold climate in Japan will be a big challenge for our Para Swimmers.

02:16Despite this, Ong is still confident that he can adjust.

02:22So, we just mentally prepared them that this will be the climate there

02:28and you should be ready.

02:30We will not look for training because it's a week away.

02:37So, we will just give mental preparedness to our athletes.

02:42Hopefully, this will be successful no matter what.

02:46Because I believe that the athletes are ready to adjust.

02:50We will give them a few days to adjust.

02:53So, hopefully, they will be able to do it.

02:56The times that will be recorded by our Philippine Para Swimming Team in the World Series will be important

03:03because it will determine if they will be able to enter the Para Swimming World Championships 2025

03:08that will be held in Singapore in September.
