Canino returns to Alas
Angel Canino returns to Alas Pilipinas as part of the 33-woman wish list for this year's national team pool. Canino, who became a Best Opposite spiker in the AVC Challenge Cup where Alas won a historic bronze, commented on her comeback as well as the inclusion of her teammates Alleiah Malaluan, Shevana Laput, and Amie Provido in the wish list. Canino fired 16 points in La Salle's 25-21, 25-17, 25-20 win over Ateneo in the UAAP Season 87 women's volleyball tournament at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on April 2, 2025.

00:00Of course, first, I'm so happy and proud of them because they worked so hard to get to where they are now and to be able to be with them on the wishlist.
00:11And I'm happy because I'll be able to be with them on the national team.
00:15I know their capabilities as a player and as an athlete so I'm so happy that I'll be able to be with them.
00:26They are athletes, they are young, they became leaders inside the court.
00:32So that's a big step for them.
00:34And what I'm happy about is that they fulfilled their role.
00:40They fulfilled their role and they really want to be leaders inside the court.
00:45So that's one of their biggest improvements.
00:50I don't know yet if I'm really an outside hitter or if I'm the opposite of the national team.
00:57But no matter what position I'm in, I always tell my coach that I'm ready to be given that position.
01:05I'm not afraid to be given that position.
01:11I even opened my mic because I think the national team is a big opportunity for me.
01:16It's a big opportunity for me to mature inside the court.
01:22And I think I'll grow as I go outside the court.
01:28So this is an opportunity for me to become a national team player.
