00:00He says, Mr. Johnson, I'm sorry to inform you, but we cannot continue to fly over the ocean.
00:05We have a problem.
00:06Dwayne Johnson's recent flight across the Pacific Ocean took a serious turn.
00:10The Moana 2 star took to social media on Friday to announce that he wouldn't be able to attend
00:14the United Football League season opener in Texas that night,
00:18due to a mid-flight mechanical issue on his way there.
00:21Last night, we had some issues with the plane.
00:24About 35 to 40 minutes into the flight, the pilot comes back to me.
00:28He gets down on one knee and he faces me face to face, and it's just me on the plane,
00:32just me and the crew.
00:34And he says, Mr. Johnson, I'm sorry to inform you, but we cannot continue to fly over the ocean.
00:39We have a problem.
00:41We have to turn the plane around and we have to land back in Hawaii.
00:45You have my word.
00:46I will land you back safely on the island.
00:49And I so appreciate his demeanor.
00:51His name is Captain David.
00:52I appreciate his demeanor in that moment.
00:54Duane went on to share more of what the pilot told him about what had happened with the plane.
00:58He said it was a hydraulics issue, hydraulics issue with overheating.
01:03And he said there are some issues that we could work out as we're in the air.
01:07And then there's some that we're not going to take a chance, especially over the ocean.
01:12And especially when the computer of the airplane is saying,
01:15don't fly anymore over the ocean.
01:16You got to get back to land.
01:18So I so appreciate the crew.
01:21I appreciate them getting us back to land safely.
01:24Appreciate God, the universe.
01:26I took this as a sign from God and the universe.
01:29The Jumanji The Next Level actor explained how the experience put things into perspective for him,
01:34crystallizing what's really important.
01:35You know how there's turbulence.
01:37We've all experienced turbulence on airplanes.
01:40And some of us, I'm sure, like me, like you guys,
01:43have experienced some really f***ing crazy turbulence where you're like,
01:48holy s***, drinks are flying, luggage is flying, everything's going.
01:52And you're like, you can't help but think it's human nature.
01:55Like, man, is this it?
01:57Is this how I check out?
02:00But when the pilot comes out and he has a conversation with you
02:02and he gets down on one knee and then he goes back to the cockpit.
02:06When you're back there alone with just your drink and you're thinking about this
02:09and you're just, you got everything crossed, hoping you make it back safely.
02:15You start to realize really quickly of the s*** that's really important in life.
02:20And then you realize the s*** that doesn't matter,
02:24that you've been thinking about and worrying about.
02:26Anyway, I had one of those moments last night.
02:28Bottom line is, I'm grateful to be back on ground.
02:30I'm grateful to be back home in Hawaii.
02:32Dwayne shared how disappointed he was to not have made it to Texas for the big game.
02:36Man, I was super pumped to get down there to Texas,
02:39to rock and roll with all the fans and the players and the coaches.
02:42And I'm just so super bummed that I can't be there.
02:45And I'm so sorry.
02:46And I want to take a moment to apologize to all of the UFL fans,
02:51our UFL universe that we continue to build,
02:54our UFL players, my players, man.
02:57I apologize to my players.
02:59The actor, who is a co-owner of the league,
03:01also shared this message for everyone about to hit the field.
03:04To all the UFL players, coaches, but especially my players,
03:07you put your fingers in that dirt, man.
03:09You're on the grind.
03:11Take advantage of this opportunity in the UFL this spring.
03:14Grab this opportunity by the throat to all my UFL players.
03:18Grab this opportunity by the throat.
03:20Do not let it go.
