00:00The Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov is downplaying tensions with US President Donald Trump's change in tone towards Russia.
00:10Peskov says work is ongoing with Washington.
00:13Should the world view this as a positive signal that Moscow is serious about negotiating a ceasefire?
00:20Well, thank you for having me.
00:21Thus far, all the signs you've seen from Moscow have not been serious.
00:25They are actually interested in either an equitable ceasefire or a peace treaty that is anything other than basically a delay for a second invasion of Ukraine.
00:36What we've seen thus far is that Russia's rejected direct ceasefire.
00:40They've tried to put conditions on any ceasefire negotiated by the United States, even ones that are fairly simple and straightforward.
00:48And they're trying to just gain leverage at every opportunity.
00:51That is one of the reasons that we're seeing President Trump sour on Putin and on Russia in general, is the sense from him that they aren't interested in peace.
00:59They're just interested in trying to get more and more out of Ukraine and trying to use Trump to effectuate that.
