00:04A prisoner from Derbyshire has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly bludgeoning another inmate with a hammer.
00:11Damien Bendall, aged 35 and formerly from Killamarsh, has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly attacking a fellow prison inmate using a hammer at HMP Franklin.
00:22He allegedly attacked the other prisoner during a workshop session.
00:26He has appeared before Newton Aycliffe Magistrates Court and will next appear for a short hearing on May 21st.
00:33He is yet to enter plea of either guilty or not guilty.
00:38A banking hub which has opened in the former Lloyds Bank building in Shirebrooke has been described as a fantastic addition to the community that lost its bank in 2024.
00:48In recent years many banks have closed down, including the Shirebrookes Lloyds Bank which shut down in May 2024.
00:55Banking hubs, which is owned by Cash Access UK and operated by the Post Office, have emerged across the country to provide a shared space where community members can manage their daily banking needs and handle their finances in person.
01:08Services provided at the Post Office hub include withdrawing and depositing cash, paying in cheques and paying utility bills, as well as checking account balances and collecting change for registered businesses.
01:19The Shirebrooke hub has moved into the former Lloyds building on Market Street, having previously operated from Shirebrooke Library.
01:26The hub is now open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm. A Lloyds community banker will be available every Tuesday.
01:33In addition, community banking facilities are available on the following days, Monday for Barclays, Thursdays for NatWest and Fridays for customers of the Halifax.
