00:10Get out of the car! Get out of the car! Get out of the car!
00:13How much have you had to drink?
00:14Nothing, baby.
00:19Show me your hands!
00:21Why are you grabbing me like this?
00:23Stop resisting!
00:24Whatcha gonna do when they come for you?
00:27Cops is filmed on location with the men and women of law enforcement.
00:31All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
00:38I was born and raised in Las Vegas.
00:40Moved out here when I was about 15 years old.
00:43Went to school here.
00:44Been working for this department for about six years.
00:46I was on patrol for about three.
00:48Then got transitioned into detectives where I currently am.
00:51And this is what I've always wanted to do.
00:57Right now we're going to an assault that just occurred.
00:59Looks like a family member punched another family member in the mouth.
01:03And then now is taking a bunch of pills.
01:22Hi, come in.
01:23Are you Misty?
01:24I'm Misty, yeah.
01:25Hey, I'm Detective Dixon of the Sheriff's Office.
01:33Let's go talk outside real quick.
01:35Just you and I, okay?
01:36Okay, I hear ya.
01:37Go on, man.
01:38I don't want to do this.
01:39I just want to be left alone.
01:41I don't know.
01:42Just like all the time.
01:43I'm going through a lot.
01:44I just moved here.
01:47I'm going through a lot and stuff.
01:50Just trying to get my life back together.
01:52She knows I'm going through a lot.
01:54I've asked her so many times just to come on, man.
01:56Just give me some respect.
01:57Just leave me alone for a little bit.
01:59I deserve peace.
02:01I don't need constant just in my face all the time.
02:05I go in my room.
02:06I stay in my room.
02:07I hide in my room.
02:08And I'm out there just trying to make food.
02:09It's just like one thing after the other.
02:11I've asked you so many times just to stop.
02:13So I don't know what he called about because I was yelling at her.
02:16Who's he?
02:17Her husband.
02:19Because she calls him every time we argue.
02:21And then tells him, oh, she's doing this.
02:23She's being abusive.
02:24She's this.
02:25But then won't tell him what she's doing to me as well.
02:28And honestly, I just start out really calm with her.
02:30I'm just like, please stop.
02:31Please stop.
02:32What happened after you got done yelling at her?
02:34She grabbed my wrist or something like that.
02:36She grabbed my wrist and we kind of fought a little bit.
02:39But she was grabbing my hair.
02:41I was grabbing hers.
02:42But I would never lay a hand on her.
02:44She didn't grab my wrist like that.
02:45You know what I mean?
02:46Did you hit her at all?
02:47Not like swing at her.
02:49But we did grab each other's hair.
02:50Did she hit you at all?
02:52I'm not going to say she hit me.
02:53But she was grabbing my hair and she did grab my wrist.
02:55But there was no actual fist.
02:57What about the pills that were taken?
02:59I grabbed the bottle of pills just because it's just so overwhelming.
03:02What do I do?
03:03I can't leave.
03:04I'm not suicidal by any means.
03:06I love my life.
03:07What do you want me to do, start walking the streets?
03:09Did you take the pills?
03:10No.
03:11No pills, no nothing?
03:12No.
03:13All right, sit tight for me, okay?
03:14Okay, thank you.
03:15R.C.?
03:16Yes, sir?
03:17Are you the one that called?
03:18I sure did.
03:19What's going on today?
03:20She's altercating.
03:21She won't stop screaming.
03:23She's out of line.
03:24I don't know what to do.
03:26This morning I came to pick her up and get her out of the situation,
03:29out of our house that we let her into at 21 years old,
03:33to help her get off of drugs.
03:35And now here she is, and that's the gratitude.
03:39No one is doing anything to hurt her, only help her.
03:42I don't even know what's going on, R.C.
03:44I know who you are, I know how you're at.
03:46And this is not the first time.
03:47Hey, hey, hey, stop, stop.
03:49I've dealt with this for four years.
03:52Okay, just do me a favor so you guys don't continue to argue,
03:55anything like that, so I can go talk to Mom, okay?
04:00Okay, tell me what's going on today.
04:01This has been going on for two days.
04:03I can't say anything to her.
04:05She lost her wallet the other day, and this morning I said,
04:09Katie, you need to call the bank.
04:11You're harassing me.
04:12Leave me alone about the wallet.
04:13She's irritable, can't talk to her, can't nothing.
04:16She's like, we're not tolerating it anymore.
04:18So this morning, she was right in my face.
04:21She was like this, so I said, don't even.
04:24So she's putting her hands in your face and everything.
04:27Well, like this, screaming, you know.
04:29So, yeah, it got a little heated there.
04:31Where did this punch come from, this punch in the face?
04:34I don't think, neither one of us punched each other.
04:37Why is R.C. telling us that you told him that she punched?
04:41Neither one of us punched each other.
04:42Neither one of us threw fists.
04:44No, not at all.
04:45Okay, what do you want done?
04:47I want her to be scared enough to stop.
04:51You don't want anything done?
04:52No, like I said, I want her scared enough that she stops.
04:55But, you know, I don't scare people, right?
04:57Yeah, you do.
04:59People who are scared of their own consequences are scared of us.
05:03All right, give me a second, Misty, okay?
05:05All right.
05:08R.C., I talked to Misty.
05:10She said that she was not punched at all.
05:12No, it's not true.
05:13Again, this is what Misty told me.
05:15This morning I came to remove my wife because it was getting horrible.
05:19My wife was like, I'm going to end up hitting her.
05:20She's pushing me.
05:21She's going to hit me.
05:22She hit me with the purse yesterday.
05:23She hit me again today in the back with whatever.
05:26I said, I don't know what to do.
05:29All right, I'll take care of it, R.C.
05:34Misty, stand up for me.
05:37Turn around.
05:38Put your hands behind your back.
05:40Right now you're being under arrest for disorderly conduct for domestic violence, okay?
05:43Why are you doing that?
05:45The whole reason why we're here, Misty.
05:50What was it? Why domestic violence, though?
05:52Is she related to you?
05:54Yeah.
05:55Does she live with you?
05:56Yes.
05:57So, you know, those are two big things for domestic violence.
05:59Okay, well, can you give me a cigarette for the ride?
06:01Because I'm going away now.
06:02So tell me, so tell me why when there was no physical contact except holding her?
06:08Her holding mine.
06:10So here in Arizona, they don't like any type of domestic violence situations.
06:16It doesn't matter if you want to press charges or not.
06:18She comes with me because it's obviously an issue.
06:20Can we put her in your vehicle?
06:22So here's the thing.
06:23She's going to go see a judge.
06:24Court starts at 130.
06:25I would be there at 1.
06:27And so you walk into the court.
06:28Tomorrow?
06:29Tomorrow.
06:30Okay.
06:31So you're not going to press charges.
06:32Yeah, I think this is wrong.
06:33Okay.
06:34Yeah, I do.
06:35It's a little much.
06:36But here's the thing.
06:37I have three different stories going on.
06:39You have scratch marks on your right arm.
06:41Oh, no.
06:42I scratch like this.
06:43Okay.
06:44My whole body is like that.
06:45Well, she tells me one thing.
06:47You tell me one thing.
06:48He tells me one thing.
06:49We did this.
06:50We did this.
06:51Okay.
06:52That was a fact.
06:53Okay.
06:54Well, that's why it's disorderly conduct and not assault.
06:56Okay?
06:57I got it.
06:58All right, Katie.
06:59I'll see you tomorrow.
07:00Love you, honey.
07:03So I've been with the Lee County Sheriff's Office for three years now.
07:06Four months with the community response unit.
07:08I'm a part of the special enforcement team.
07:10Basically what that is is if there's any high crime areas where the community requests to see more presence,
07:16we'll be able to go to those areas and apply pressure and help decrease crime in that area.
07:23So right now, we're going to assist my partner here on a traffic stop.
07:27He initially called for another unit, so we're going to check out and see what's going on.
07:41What do you got going on?
07:42He was in a hurry.
07:43I don't even know if he lives here.
07:44Okay.
07:45More confrontational, yeah.
07:46He's kind of dipped into this driveway?
07:48Yeah.
07:49Okay.
07:50How you doing, sir?
07:51Good.
07:52How are you?
07:53I'm good.
07:54Staff officer with the Lee County Sheriff's Office.
07:56What you got going on today?
07:59Okay.
08:00He tell you why he got stopped?
08:01He said I didn't have my seatbelt on when I started my live video because I seen you guys pop out on the other guy.
08:06And then I left to go drop off my buddy.
08:08And I said, you know what?
08:09It's going to be funny if I get pulled over, so I'm going to put it on live.
08:12Okay.
08:13That's fine.
08:14Everybody on my live, you see there's eight people.
08:16Everybody on my live saw that I took my seatbelt off as soon as I came into the driveway.
08:21I asked them, why did you pull me over, sir?
08:23He said, because of your seatbelt.
08:24I said, I just took off my seatbelt.
08:25He said, I'm not going to argue with you.
08:26I said, okay, me neither.
08:27The live seen it.
08:28That's fine.
08:29And I did it on purpose because I saw you guys pull over the black gentleman over there.
08:32I get you.
08:33All right.
08:34He said he pulled me over for my seatbelt.
08:35That's bull.
08:36Well, I'm not here to say that you were or were not wearing your seatbelt.
08:37Like you say, you just saw me came.
08:38I just got on scene here.
08:39But, I mean, you know, your windows are down.
08:41There's no issues with visibility.
08:43So, all right.
08:45And I live here.
08:46Gotcha.
08:47He was traveling northbound here on Leonard.
08:50Once he realized I was sitting there and he didn't have his seatbelt on, he tried to accelerate.
08:54Tried to get away from me a little bit.
08:55I pulled out.
08:56Was able to catch up.
08:57As I went to go light him up, call out the traffic stop.
09:00He whipped in the driveway as fast as he could.
09:02Looked like he was trying to make it to home base before I got to him.
09:04So.
09:05Okay.
09:06And then when you made contact with him?
09:07Yeah, you know, aggressive.
09:08Wanted to play Facebook live.
09:10So.
09:11Super nervous, right?
09:12Defensive, nervous.
09:13Any criminal history or anything like that?
09:14Yeah, he's got picked up for cocaine possession.
09:16Okay.
09:18You got a lot of views on that?
09:20Oh, yeah.
09:21It's getting better.
09:22What's going on, guys?
09:23That's what's up, man.
09:24That's good, man.
09:25Let them know.
09:26Hey, guys.
09:27Lee County Sheriff's Office.
09:28We love your support, right?
09:29That's it, man.
09:30You mind just stepping out for me?
09:31We could talk like that.
09:32No, I'm good.
09:33I prefer to stay in the car.
09:34I like.
09:35I'm asking you.
09:36I'm telling you to step out.
09:37Am I being detained?
09:38Yes, this is.
09:39Yeah, it's a traffic stop, man.
09:40You are being detained.
09:41You are, yes.
09:42Yes.
09:43So, do me a favor.
09:44Just make it easy, man.
09:45You can just step out.
09:46I'll allow you to smoke, man.
09:47All right?
09:48Come on.
09:49Just make sure there's no what?
09:50Separate you from the vehicle.
09:51I told him I didn't want to get out of the car.
09:52Okay.
09:53Look, man.
09:54He's basically forcing me to get out of the car.
09:55So, I'm going to get out of the car.
09:56I appreciate you.
09:57He's basically forcing me to get out of the car right now.
09:58That's correct.
10:00You can just hang out in the rear.
10:01Oh, the rear.
10:02The rear.
10:03You can just lean on the car.
10:04Just don't reach for anything.
10:05Nothing in your pockets, right?
10:06I don't want you to touch me either.
10:07That's fine.
10:08You can stand right there.
10:09Because I didn't commit a crime, so.
10:10I understand.
10:12But you understand I can pat you down, so.
10:13No, you can't.
10:14That's what I'm going to do.
10:15Okay?
10:16You can do that, but look.
10:17You're patting me down without my consent.
10:18I don't need your consent, sir.
10:19Okay.
10:20I just want to make sure there's no weapons on you.
10:21I just told you there's no weapons.
10:22I understand.
10:23But, you know, the world we live in, you know.
10:24Yeah, I know.
10:25We got to be safe.
10:26Trust me.
10:27Very good.
10:28I feel safer in my house without you guys being around me,
10:29intimidating me.
10:30No one's intimidating you, man.
10:31I feel intimidated.
10:32I don't want to be on camera either, but, you know,
10:33I'll put you on camera, too.
10:34That's fine.
10:35Can you just do me a favor?
10:36What?
10:37Can you just stand over here real quick?
10:38You can have your phone.
10:39Just kind of stand right here real quick.
10:40I appreciate you, man.
10:41They got a dog around my car.
10:42Over supposedly a seat belt.
10:4325 and climbing.
10:44Let's go.
10:45Come on, man.
10:46Is there going to be anything illegal in the car?
10:47I said no.
10:48Okay.
10:49The dog alerted on the car, so we're going to go ahead
10:50and search it.
10:51Okay.
10:52Go ahead.
10:53I just want to give you a chance to be up front with me.
10:54I'm telling you there's nothing in the car.
10:55I'm telling you there's nothing in the car.
10:56I'm telling you there's nothing in the car.
10:57I'm telling you there's nothing in the car.
10:58I said no.
10:59Okay.
11:00The dog alerted on the car, so we're going to go ahead
11:01and search it.
11:02Okay.
11:03Go ahead.
11:04I just want to give you a chance to be up front with me.
11:05I'm telling you there's nothing in the car.
11:06Okay.
11:07All right.
11:08All right.
11:09He said the dog indicated there's something in the car.
11:10It sure didn't smell either.
11:11It sure didn't smell either.
11:12My dog alerted all over the car, okay?
11:13Yeah.
11:14Right.
11:15A few times people like to hide things under cigarettes.
11:16Okay.
11:17Yes.
11:18Yes.
11:19Yeah.
11:20Directly underneath the driver's seat, within arm's reach.
11:21So, it looked probably like a bag of cokie.
11:22Yeah, yeah.
11:23Directly underneath the driver's seat, within arm's reach.
11:25So they're looking for probably a bag of cokie.
11:27Yeah.
11:28There's actually some coke still in it.
11:29Yeah, a little residue in there.
11:31Yeah.
11:31White powdery substance.
11:33Look, Ron, Chris, that baggie's torn.
11:40Did you eat it or tear it?
11:41No.
11:43Shouldn't be no baggie on that truck.
11:46When's the last time you took a bump?
11:47I don't take bumps.
11:50So what am I being arrested for in a game session?
11:54You may have torn the bag and gotten rid of most of it,
11:56but there's still some coke in it.
11:57There's no way.
11:58You can go to jail for it.
11:59No.
12:01I have my phone with me.
12:03Step to your left.
12:08Stick out your tongue.
12:10Tip your head back.
12:12Lift it.
12:13All right, go ahead and put your foot in.
12:16So we're field testing the suspected cocaine,
12:19white powdery substance here, the cocaine swab.
12:23It could be meth, too.
12:25No, it's blue.
12:26There you go.
12:26Which tests positive for cocaine.
12:28Sure.
12:31Well, I'm telling you, that's not mine.
12:33It's just hard to believe, man.
12:34That's your car.
12:36If I don't do any drugs, and I don't hang out
12:39with people that do any drugs, there shouldn't
12:40be drugs in the car.
12:41Yeah, absolutely.
12:42There shouldn't be drugs in the car.
12:44Yeah, absolutely right.
12:45And when you asked me, I said no, right?
12:47OK.
12:48Well, do you still experiment with it?
12:49Do you, you know, record?
12:50No, I don't.
12:51And you guys still pulled me out of my car for no reason,
12:54because I did not commit any crimes.
12:56There's no way that he can see me wearing my seat belt
12:58from as far as he was.
13:00And that's why I went on my life, on purpose.
13:03There's nothing wrong with you going on live.
13:05I just hope you guys feel accomplished.
13:06You really took a bad guy out the street.
13:08And when people are here, it's really dying, you know?
13:10Drugs.
13:11People are running into people's houses,
13:13and shooting them, or tying them up.
13:15And you're over here saying you found a baggie
13:17that I haven't even seen yet.
13:19So the ripped baggie of cocaine is not yours, right?
13:21Absolutely not.
13:22OK.
13:22All righty, sir.
13:24I'll be out in a few.
13:26He'll be taking the ride to Lee County Jail tonight.
13:30So I was in the Army for about five years,
13:33and joined the Richmond County Sheriff's Office.
13:36I always wanted to be a police officer.
13:38And the transition was really easy,
13:40because the structure is about the same.
13:42I enjoy working with these guys.
13:44It's a team concept, family.
13:47So right now, we have a marked patrol unit in a vehicle
13:52pursuit right now.
13:53Somewhere in the area near us.
14:00OK.
14:01Yep, there it is, right there.
14:02We're on the roundabout.
14:07I'm going back down by you towards Laney Walton.
14:09All right.
14:12OK.
14:14Left on Perry.
14:15Left on Perry.
14:16We're in a vehicle pursuit, and I'm not
14:19sure why the guy won't stop.
14:20But just got caught up to it, so.
14:25Left on Perry.
14:26Now we're making left on two.
14:27Left on two.
14:30Left on two.
14:33Right on right, sir.
14:38Y'all let S11 get up front.
14:42S11.
14:46Behind you.
14:47I'm trying to get that thing right.
14:54There it goes.
14:56Oh, he's bailing.
14:56He's bailing.
14:59All right, get around.
15:00Get around.
