00:00The Red Sox are a team that I think is more built for this regular season.
00:04I like this rotation, they're going to get Brian Beyo back as well.
00:08They have rotation depth, which is something Yankees don't have.
00:11So if Garrett Crochet, who was uninspiring, I would think, in his first start, but again,
00:17first starts, we throw them out the window.
00:19You look at this number, plus 350, down to plus 240.
00:23That number's moved.
00:24And I think a big reason why it moved as well is because you're getting Christian Campbell
00:27playing every day, who, by the way, the Red Sox are looking already at signing to an extension.
00:32So that tells you what the Red Sox organization thinks of Christian Campbell.
00:36You've got Bregman playing third, you have better defense now in this infield, and that's
00:41going to be very important for this pitching staff as well.
00:44Also very important long-term to play good defense.
00:47And then you move Raphael Devers to the DH.
00:50Now Devers off to a slow start for a couple reasons.
00:53Number one, you know, the transition to DH is difficult for everyday players.
00:57Many have talked about it.
00:58Edgar Martinez famously talked about it, Matt, if you recall, where he really kind of struggled
01:01at first because you're used to being in the field, you're used to being in the moment,
01:05all that stuff.
01:06And then all of a sudden, you're sitting on the bench and you've got to get ready.
01:10And it's learning how to play the role of DH, which is not easy.
01:15I think eventually that'll settle in and eventually that shoulder will start to feel a bit better.
01:19So if anything, I've seen Devers fall in drafts.
01:21I'm guessing he's going to be one of the buy-load targets in the next week's show when we start
01:25to talk about trades.
01:27But what do you think about this Red Sox team as it's currently constructed, the moves they
01:31made this offseason?
01:32I have a little bullpen, maybe a little shaky.
01:33Liam Hendricks starting the year on the IL, Chapman's that guy right now.
01:37But what do you think about the Boston Red Sox and this division too?
01:40I know the Orioles good offensively, Yankees good offensively, but do you think the Red
01:43Sox are the most complete team?
01:46It's a great question, but I mean, if it's dropped a dollar three or four days into the
01:49season, something's up.
01:51If you believed in them, you should have gotten in at the plus 350.
01:55The bullpen remains a question, you know, complete is, is, is a strong word to use.
01:59The bullpen remains a question, but a lot of rookies, a lot of young talent on this
02:03team.
02:04And I think that's where the league is going.
02:05Rookies, youth, let's see how they can play a bit of an older man's game, baseball.
02:11Yeah.
02:12And speaking of rookies and youth, Cam Smith, who we were talking about about a month ago,
02:17right?
02:18We were talking about Cam Smith and people were saying, what are you talking about?
02:21He wasn't even on the board.
02:22In fact, our producer, Sam Yarnell, he went and called up, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.
02:27Makes a call to the book.
02:28Hey, why is Cam Smith not on the board?
02:31Cam Smith gets on the board, right at plus 20,000.
02:35So if you've been right there seconds later, seconds later, it's plus four 50 right now.
02:45So I tend to wait a little bit more rookie of the year.
02:49I like these things to play out.
02:50These rookies get to ebbs and flows.
02:52You've seen that in the past too, where guys get really hot in the first half of the year.
02:55We saw with Josh Young, right?
02:56A couple of years ago, and then it faded.
02:59Rookie of the year is a better thing to start looking into more when you're into June and
03:03July.
03:04I think that that's when the market really starts to present itself.
03:07And typically speaking, you haven't lost any value.
03:09Think about last year too.
03:10You had Merrill and you had Paul Skeen's neck and neck all the way towards the end.
03:15So there's still going to be value there, but there's definitely been value on Cam Smith
03:18and he's one to watch a spectacular player and a young player who already is right at
03:23the major league level.
