00:00In Assassin's Creed Shadows, you'll play as Maui,
00:05a stealthy shinobi, and Yasuke, a powerful samurai.
00:09And while they're more than capable of handling themselves,
00:12it's always nice to have a friend to lend a hand, or a fist.
00:16Throughout your journey, you'll encounter a variety of clever, righteous,
00:19and even flirty characters that you can recruit to your cause,
00:22invite to your hideout, and call upon in the open world
00:25to help you sneak and fight like a master assassin.
00:29These allies will pop up where you might not expect them,
00:31and if you're going to recruit them to your cause, you'll have to earn their trust.
00:34Take Genojo, for example, played by famed Japanese actor Makeno.
00:38After a meet-cute that involves not an insignificant amount of steel and firecrackers,
00:42he and Naoe will come to realize that they make far better allies than enemies.
00:46Sure, Genojo might not make the best first impression.
00:49After all, he is a thief and a ravenous flirt,
00:52but he steals from the rich and gives to the poor.
00:55And who doesn't like a flirt?
00:56Naoe sure does. Or doesn't.
00:58That part is up to you.
01:03Once you've helped Genojo fulfill his personal goals,
01:05you'll be able to offer him a spot in your league and invite him to your hideout.
01:14After you've built a dojo at your hideout, you can begin to upgrade your allies,
01:17unlocking new abilities and outfits for them.
01:20Each ally has an activated ability that lets you call them into action,
01:23but they also have up to two passive abilities that will aid you in the open world
01:27even when you're not calling them for help.
01:29In Genojo's case, calling him into the field will cause him to throw a stunning projectile on your targets,
01:33allowing you to sneak by unnoticed or move in quickly for the kill.
01:38Upgrade him all the way to veteran rank and he'll automatically stun guards right before they detect you.
01:43And keep servants from ratting you out to enemy soldiers as you sneak through castle grounds.
01:48These are two massive buffs to your stealth arsenal.
01:51Genojo is just one of the many allies you can meet and recruit in Assassin's Creed Shadows.

02:00Meet Yaya.
02:01A pacifist at heart, she's not above using her fists to solve a problem,
02:05but will stop short of killing anyone.
02:08Maybe you need some more firepower on your side.
02:10There's always the impulsive, tempo-toting Katsuhime.
02:13She may be as likely to charge headfirst into an enemy castle as she is to kiss you,
02:17but her dazed attacks and bullets will make short work of any enemy in your way.
02:21Using different allies can really complement Naoe and Yasuke's own playstyles,
02:25adding stealth or combat options as needed.
02:28Genojo, Yaya, and Katsuhime aren't the only allies you'll meet and recruit,
02:33but their companionship and help on the battlefield is dependent on you.
02:37Invest in your relationship with them,
02:39and they'll reward you with support on the field of battle, friendship, and maybe even a little romance.
