During a baseball game, most people's attention are on the players, but it is the grounds crew that makes the baseball field ready to play each and every day especially in the event of bad weather.

00:11the grounds crew.
00:12They keep the field ready to play, rain or shine.
00:16We are really responsible for everything that happens inside the fences, so getting the
00:20field ready for play each and every day.
00:23Matt Nary is the sports turf manager for Medlar Field, home of the State College Spikes and
00:28Penn State Baseball.
00:30When the final out is recorded, his team comes up to bat.
00:34The first thing we attack are the mound, the plate and the infield dirt.
00:39That's where most of the action happens in baseball.
00:41We're usually here about an hour after the game, and then we're back in here at 9 the
00:45next morning to do it again.
00:47And Matt's team has double the workload, covering not one, but two teams.
00:53The season can be long and grueling, but hey, you get to work outside and you get to be
00:57around the game that you love, and it makes it kind of nice.
