02:28I started with a charity which I used to be a manager of as well. I was happy I went to
02:36start a business, so I've done a training, really enjoyed it and I've been doing it ever
02:40since. Now, because I'm a long-disguised, I try and help out guys and stuff. I've got
02:46a business in cities and hopefully in other cities.
02:50Were you homeless in Edinburgh?
02:51Yes.
02:52Are you still seeing the same characters and people you knew when you were homeless in
02:55Edinburgh?
02:56No, not really. Some of them have moved on and changed. We've had a lot of opportunities
03:01with other people. Some of them are still on the same route. So, projects with us and
03:06different people. I know a lot of people who have been homeless for a while. People just
03:10take it quick and take it great. They're always taking their days off.
03:15Quite sure, he was looking to make up history. That's very good.
03:18I told you so.
03:20He knows his stuff.
03:22He does know his stuff.
03:24Have you not done one yet?
03:26No.
03:27It's a great way to see the city though. You guys have got the stories. You can bring
03:31places that people don't see and hear. You deliver in a brilliant way as well.
03:37It's great for people. And you get to meet a lot of different people from all over the
03:40world and stuff. Different characters and that. So, you know a bit, as you say.
03:45How do you think we get more homeless people into roles like this and jobs like this?
03:51We are trying to highlight homelessness and not a lot of homeless people are bad people.
03:56It's just something we need an opportunity.
04:13We saw your offices. We were showing them. You're the past nominee.
04:19How many people are you helping?
04:20So, 1,700 households a year on average. We will see 400 a month.
04:48We have a little bit of stuff outside.
05:199,000 people are going to make that happen.
05:23I'll start with John. He has come all the way from the US.
05:26The Ventures Foundation is a fund that's going to fund for some of us to go into the other
05:34homeless locations like Newport or Slanky.
05:37We will make it really accessible.
05:41I hope you can accelerate that growth and accelerate the power.
05:47Have you had a tour yet?
05:49No, I had with Sonny. I did with Sonny in Edinburgh.
05:53It was amazing. The tour here is excellent.
05:59Can you hear me on the mic? We'll go next door, I think, just after.
06:04There you go.
06:13Well, we've gone, Simon.
06:20You got slightly more than one job.
06:21I did.
06:22It's a good segue.
06:23It's a very good segue.
06:25We're going to be talking about how important it is to provide furnishings and things that
06:32people need to turn their homes into a foundation.
06:36If we go back to the basics, if somebody has just handed keys, they get keys to a housing
06:41assistance.
06:42Social isolation is one of the biggest and hardest things for people to cope with.
06:46It doesn't matter how social you are or anything.
06:50If you've got a flat or if you've got no furniture, you can invite people in.
06:53And that really, really has a negative impact.
06:56And everybody's came together really positive.
06:59And we're so looking forward to analysing the data to ensure that we can add a house
07:04into a home.
07:05And I think that's what this project is all about.
07:07Not just a building, but actually making it somewhere that people can feel safe.
07:10Because often they've come with furniture.
07:12Furnished and ready.
07:13That's not the case.
07:14Is it 26% of social housing tenants live in furnished property?
07:17Yeah, that's really anything.
07:19That's a phenomenal amount.
07:20I don't think people realise that.
07:22Like you said, if you're in a shell of a house, you might be in a house and have a
07:26roof over your head, but it's not home.
07:28And you're not going to stay very long in there.
07:30And so is this all of you have come together to be able to tackle that furniture policy?
07:34Absolutely.
07:52Sorry, I've got my very noisy camera.
