00:30First of all, when someone asked me about Gully Boy, I said that this is my film.
00:34If someone else had done it, I would have been burnt to ashes.
00:37I could have done this. That's why I was born.
00:41You know, and it's a coming together of too many things that are very, very dear to me.
00:48Rap, hip-hop music, which I've loved since I was a kid.
01:00I was editing Dil Dhadakne Do, and my editor, Anand Subbiah, actually showed me a video.
01:11So this was 2014.
01:13He showed me a video of an artist called Nezi, who was like 21, and he had put up a song called Aafad.
01:23And that's the first time I actually saw real, authentic, what now is called Gully Rap.
01:29And it was just stuck in my head.
01:32And from that moment till now, I mean, it's just been a journey.
01:35It just took me where, I mean, I'm here now.
02:29🎶
02:57This is what rap is all about.
02:58Look at my car, my shoes, look at this girl.
