00:00Hi, I am Rani Rampal, captain Indian Women's Hockey Team.
00:30If I can do it, I think every girl can do it.
01:00But I wanted to start right away. I wanted to play, I wanted to play.
01:09Then one day they thought, okay, you are winning so much, so let's keep it and see.
01:30Most of the kids, even I come from a very poor family, so I couldn't afford it.
01:35And then slowly, you know, you have a motivation that if I play well, I will get a new stick.
01:46It's so cold in December and January, but you are still leaving your house at 4.30 in the morning for training.
01:52I think being stubborn in life is not a bad thing.
01:56And when you do everything to fulfill your desire, the first thing is courage.
02:11I was so happy and almost crying.
02:14And I had a very proud feeling that I would get to play with those athletes whom I considered my idols.
02:26I am still getting goosebumps when you put that color.
02:47It's the biggest honor to put that color for you, for the country, when our national flag is in front of us,
02:54you can never get a better feeling than that in the world.
03:06Injury also teaches you a lot.
03:08If you are a top level elite athlete, then you never play completely pain-free.
03:14Your training load, intensity work, it becomes too much.
03:19Everything is with your body.
03:21If your body is fine, if your body is reacting, then you can play.
03:25If your body is not reacting, then it is very difficult to play.
03:27But you should not lose hope.
03:29Injury also makes you a strong athlete.
03:41As an athlete, it is very difficult to physically, mentally, emotionally push yourself for another year.
03:47To get there, you have to do penance for 4-5 years.
03:51For me, what was more important than Padma Shri was that my father got a compliment from the Prime Minister.
04:19He said that you fed your daughter when no one wanted to feed her.
04:23So I salute you.
04:35My personal experience is that if you don't want to win, then you can't achieve it.
04:40You need a lot of courage to be brave.
