00:00There were plenty of smiles here at the beach in Port Macquarie today for the Silver Surfers
00:07event.
00:08It aims to engage more older people with bodyboarding, encouraging them to keep active.
00:14On hand to offer some tips and tricks were two former world bodyboard champions, Sydney's
00:19Ben Player and Port Macquarie's Damian King.
00:23And when the surfers hit the water, there were plenty of smiles and laughter.
00:28And many have vowed to try bodyboarding again.
00:30I felt as if I knew what I was doing, but you know, first time ever, but yeah, I'm going
00:36to do this more regularly.
00:37I'm a dialysis patient myself, and so I encourage people to do things and to get out and stay
00:45actively fit physically, mentally.
00:49This is grassroots as it can get, but it gets you back to why we do it.
00:54The next Silver Surfers event is set to be held a little further up the coast at Coffs
00:59Harbour when there's sure to be lots more fun in the waves.
