00:00And in Bolivia, a new vaccination campaign was launched through the Rapid Monitoring
00:03System to detect infants and children who have not yet been immunized against the score
00:08of diseases.
00:09Our correspondent, Freddy Morales, with the details.
00:14The so-called Rapid Vaccination Monitoring was initiated to reach almost 60,000 children
00:19under five years of age who, for whatever reason, did not receive their vaccination
00:24doses last year.
00:25It is in the urban areas where we are not achieving a higher coverage, but this is because
00:32of the high migration we have from urban to rural or vice versa.
00:35But generally in rural areas, all the families are well-known by the health personnel.
00:40They know their name, their last name, how old they are, and they are more identified.
00:46But in urban areas, it is more difficult.
00:54Rapid monitoring will make it possible to evaluate immunization coverage in the nine
00:58departments and almost 4,000 brigadists will be deployed in this campaign.
01:05Our coverage is in the 75 percent range.
01:10We aim to raise that to 85 to 95 percent.
01:12That's our goal.
01:17The campaign consists of checking, house by house, the status of children's vaccination
01:22records.
01:26When we do a rapid vaccination monitoring, we go and look for children who might have
01:30escaped from that age group and who might be older.
01:32We would have to go and recover them, vaccinating these children in order to avoid the risk
01:37of transmission of diseases such as measles due to the epidemiological alerts that are
01:42issued at the international level.
01:51Health professionals consider that the anti-vaccine campaign that manifested itself during the
01:55COVID pandemic has been overcome, which should be verified in daily consultations.
02:01In this time, the COVID vaccines have been very important.
02:05Now I have had seven patients who have passed COVID, but they are not in serious condition.
02:10They had to be taken to therapy as they were totally discomposed.
02:13Now it is like a cold, but they have to be treated.
02:17Vaccines have lowered the level of lethality that COVID had.
02:25Rapid vaccination monitoring is carried out in the country's 340 municipalities.
02:30The state provides the 12 doses to be applied between birth and five years of age, which
02:34prevent 20 diseases.
02:36Vaccinations are also offered free of charge for senior citizens and vulnerable groups
02:41against COVID and influenza.
