00:00Ramadhan bazaar traders report lower sales this year, saying customers are buying less,
00:07even though crowd numbers have stayed the same.
00:10A Mutabak vendor from Kelana Jaya, known only as Rasli, said people were spending more cautiously,
00:17especially with schools having just started during Ramadhan.
00:21I switched to Mutabak because of the economy.
00:24The price of goods has gone up a lot, so the price of chicken is a bit high for customers.
00:32So I switched to Mutabak because I think it's more affordable for customers.
00:36Another Mutabak vendor, known only as Fikri, who has been at the Jalan Telawi bazaar since 2016,
00:43also said rising operational costs have forced him to increase prices.
00:49The cost of ingredients is quite high, and the cost of workers as well.
00:56Last year, I still paid RM4, but this year I can't keep the RM4 price, so I decided to pay RM5.
01:05A customer, known only as Alicia, said social media had sensationalised going to Ramadhan bazaars,
01:12but the prices were getting higher.
01:14I think recently it's just been very expensive, not just this year, but the past few years.
01:19Getting a drink now is RM5 minimum.
