00:00The Malaysian Lawn Balls Association, PLBM, announced a list of 14 players to form the Ampoh squad to overcome the challenges of the Asian Games 2025 at the Filipina Club from April 27 to May 4.
00:12A total of 7 male and 7 female athletes will be in the open category and under 25 years old.
00:18One of the players who once again represents the national squad, Haikal Ruslan, is the Asian singles champion under 25 years old in the 2023 edition.
00:27This milestone is significant for the 23-year-old athlete, given that last year his service was put aside by the national camp.
00:35Haikal, the son of the former national padang bowling athlete, Ruslan Kamarudin, is a sign of confidence to return to the Asian stage after a year away from his beloved national team.
00:47Actually, my father was also a national lawn ball player in the 2000s.
00:54And I continued his legacy because he really wanted me to play this sport.
01:02So I continued until today, he wants me to represent the country in international competitions.
01:10To be honest, my target for this year's Asian Games 2025 depends on the athletes.
01:25They will be placed according to our performance, the performance of the athletes.
01:32So for me, I'm open, whether I'm open or under 25.
01:37When my name was chosen for this edition, I kept thinking in my head, I had to win this time.
01:53Because in 2023, I got the title.
01:58And then last year, I was not chosen to represent the country.
02:03So this year I was chosen, alhamdulillah.
02:06So in my head, I thought I wanted to win the title back.
